A Beloved Client Sent Me Spending Money for Down Under for my Birthday…

March 4, 2024

A beloved client is sending some “mad money” for my birthday to spend on my trip Down Under when I get there.

WOO HOO!

Especially WOO HOO because I had to spend $100 this past weekend to get a locksmith to unlock my vehicle after it locked me out ALL BY ITSELF while it was still running and I went back into the house for a minute.

I have NO idea why it is doing that, but it did it again within seconds of me getting exiting it at Winco this morning, too.  It seems to have a mind of its own suddenly.

It has never auto-locked me out in the 20 years I’ve owned it, and I have no key fob to accidentally trigger such a reaction. I have always used a key to open and lock it, but the key was in the ignition when it happened the first time (as mentioned above) and it was in my pocket when it happened at Winco.

Someone joked, “It’s possessed — like in the movie Christine!”

I’m beginning to believe it!

Helen asked me if I have plans for my birthday. I said, “Nope!  Are you kidding?!! I can’t even think of anything other than New Zealand right now!”

In fact, I forgot entirely about March 5th until FB friends started sending me early birthday wishes  because of not knowing the exact date when Lisa and I are heading for New Zealand.

I’m Very Good at Forgetting My Birthday

One year, when I lived in Los Angeles, I forgot about it until the day after because it fell on a weekend and I didn’t look at a calendar all weekend.  Got back to work the following Monday, saw the date, and went, “Well, for heaven’s sake!”

I don’t think I should have to count that one at all, since I forgot all about it at the time.  (Doesn’t work that way, does it? DRAT!)

In Other News…

I found a new contact in Costa Rica!  She was featured recently in International Living’s Postcards publication and I loved what I read about her, so I reached out hoping she would reach back after I introduced myself to her and pointed her to my websites. She did, and she wants to meet me (or us) when we get to CR in 2025 or 2026. If she has the space, she will even put us up while we’re there for a week to ten days, but no guarantees there, as she is currently looking to downsize to a studio apartment.  If we could go soon, she’d have room (until September) but there is no way we can get away twice in one year. Neither of us could afford to… Drat!

Another of my friends is in CR right now on a river cruise. I’m looking forward to hearing what she has to say when she gets back. I hope she’s taking lots of pictures!
