Today’s Meander in Grecia and More

October 1, 2026

Today I took the bus to Grecia for an INR check, some groceries at Pali, a stop at the bank for cash, and for cat treats  and a hamburger at Mercado Municipal. Had a good time and was back home by 11:15.

I jumped off the bus about four blocks away

…from Central Park in Grecia and walked to Clinica Sanchez from there to have my INR level checked again since it was high two weeks ago.

The test results came back within range today (YAY! 2.2) so all is well again.  I added greens to my diet and started eating more black beans and brown rice again. I had gotten lax about eating enough vegetables to keep my INR in check. Naughty me!

Walked down to Pali from Sanchez

…and bought milk, cat food, canned sweet corn (for crockpot soups) cereal and protein bars, then I walked farther down the same block to check out Subway. There’s a sign there now saying (in Spanish) that they’re remodeling and will reopen pronto, so that was good news.

Walked from there one block to Banco Nacional to get 30 thousand colones (about $66) from the ATM and then went to Mercado Municipal to see my friend in one of the stalls there. Bought six pork chops and four pieces of sailfish from him.

This vendor is such a delight (he sells meat and fish). He always spoils me (has me wait so he can slice the freshest cuts of meat and fish for me).

Every so often I insist that he accept an additional 1000 colones so he can get an ice cream cone. He usually refuses, so I don’t offer every time, because doing so embarrasses him. Perhaps once every five or six visits he’ll take it.  (Ice cream is a serious luxury for him.) I’ll give him a nicer tip at Christmastime because he’ll be more likely to accept — and maybe even need — it then!

After I finished doing business there, I walked down the ramp to the pet store to buy Charli more creamy treats plus her monthly flea and tick application, although that isn’t due to be applied again until the 24th.

After that, there was a one hour wait for the bus

…so I went to my favorite soda right there at Mercado Municipal and ordered a hamburger and soda. (That’s my backup plan while Subway is boarded up.) I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet, so I was ready to chow down.

Just Flipped My Calendar from Sept to Oct this Morning

Lisa made a unique (not for sale) FloofsCafe calendar last year just for herself and me and perhaps a couple other snarky cat-crazy friends. I always look forward to flipping to the next month to see what new laugh awaits me, and I am never disappointed.

She is so freaking clever.

Here’s the October Image and Sentiment:

Gotta love it! That’s cat-itude! LOL!

Post THAT on your front door at Halloween!

HA HA HA HA HA

I can’t wait to start wearing the two Christmas season t-shirts that she brought me last February. (These are available on her website, if they float your boat, too.)

And of course there’s THIS all-season snark-attack option:

There are many more options. Mugs. Cushy blankets. Sweatshirts. T-shirts. Silhouettes. Catty Shakespeare- and Charles Dickens-centric options.

Check it out!

There might be something there for the cat lovers on your holiday shopping list. Or for yourself. You won’t know until you take a peek!

And please forward the link to your cat cuddling comrades.  They, too, might get a hankering to get something for themselves or someone else.

Guess that’s all for this time. Carry on with whatever scandalous thing you were doing before I interrupted you!

(I hope it had something to do with getting out the vote!)
