YES! The BLUE-NAMI ARRIVED LAST NIGHT! HALLELUJAH! HAPPIER DAYS ARE AHEAD FOR THE U.S.A. AND WORLD! DANCING IN THE STREET!
DEMS picked up seven Senate Seats, GOP lost 7. DEMS are firmly in the majority and will be in control of Congressional policies and oversight in January 2027.
I’m not even going to speculate what the GOP will do between now and then to throw more monkey wrenches into the works, but if they do, they will suffer the wrath of a now-very-awake-and-aware electorate in 2028 and beyond. (My major fear is that two SC Justices will retire and T-Rex and this lame duck Congress end up choosing their replacements, which could screw us for 30+ years.)
But I’m setting aside the doomsday scenarios for now and celebrating what has just happened.
REPUDIATION
The opportunity to impeach and prosecute Pete Hegseth and RFK Jr., the low-hanging poison fruit from the present tree feels very close now. And because DEMS can walk and chew gum at the same time, they already have their first 100 hours and first 100 days on their do-to locked, loaded and ready to roll out on January 4th. I say Hallelujah again. They now know they have a mandate and a lot of people counting on them in ways they never have before, so they need to hit the ground running and stay at it steadily thereafter. We the people will make sure they will, won’t we? We didn’t vote them in to be ineffective on our behalf. We voted them in to get shit done, un-done, and to get the American people (and the world) back on their feet again heading FOR goals instead of bracing for impact…
More doings
This morning I rode the bus to Grecia (the bus fare has gone up again for the second time in six months–arghhh!) to get my INR checked and a urinalysis done. The INR came in high again (3.65) but not dangerously so, so I need to hold dosages a couple times this week and start eating more greens. I got an appointment with Dr. Pacheco for tomorrow morning so she can prescribe me an antibiotic to get rid of the UTI. It’s no longer entirely asymptomatic so I want to get it GONE again.
Bought boneless, skinless chicken breasts from my favorite Mercado Municipal vendor. I have plenty now until the end of the month.
Also got Charli some creamy treats and cat food and got myself some potatoes and celery so I can make more crockpot soup as the days pass. Got some drinkable yogurt, too, and milk. That was pretty much everything. Only went to get my INR checked and the UTI figured out. And to eat a half sandwich at Subway, of course!
When I got back from town
… I started some blankets, towels and rugs in the washer (different loads!) and then started boxing up the miscellaneous items that I won’t be using between now and December 1st when I move to the new place. I boxed my critter sculptures, books, the McCoy action figure, and other stuff. I’ll do a little every day so Charli doesn’t get unhinged, thinking we’re moving again.
I also am fine-tooth-combing the apartment, cleaning it within an inch of its life of every last cat hair, dust bunny, insect carcass, etc. There isn’t much to find and evict, but that hasn’t stopped me from looking in every possible place like a super sleuth. I even upended the loveseat and vacuumed the springs and materials there. Did the same with the bed by rolling it out from the wall and getting behind there to sweep and vacuum. Yeah, I’m planning to turn this place back to Deb in as good or better shape than it was in when I walked in. If I succeed, I’ll get my $200 deposit back, which would be super nice!
I didn’t get much sleep last night — I was up watching and “helping” the Blue-nami crest, you see! LOL! — so I plan to make it an early night tonight.
Oh, wait! I think I need to stay up until at least 8 pm my time because Robert Reich and Heather Lofthouse are going to be doing a post-election celebration party at 5 p.m. Pacific Time and I’m signed up for that. Hope I make it through. It’s gonna be a challenge. Maybe I’ll nap until then. That would work! YEAH!
