Twiddling My Thumbs

August 9, 2025

In between bouts of thumb twiddling, I’m getting more stuff done: buying protein bars for the trip down, putting gas in the vehicle, resting, etc.

Right now I’m baking some coconut shrimp for lunch because — why not?  I’m introducing more magnesium into my diet (potatoes, bananas, nuts, avocado) to offset recurring (but not excruciating) toe, foot and leg cramps. I’m drinking some tonic water with quinine in it, too.

What a life during “the in-between”…

I’m not where I want to be, and not where I will soon be

God willing and the creeks don’t rise!

Lisa is already planning her trip down to see me.  If she comes in February, the flight is a little over $100.  If she comes in March, the cost is over $1000.  The decision is an absolute no brainer!

I should be in a long-term rental by then. I hope it will be a two bedroom so that whoever visits will have their own sanctuary while they’re visiting.

Oh me, oh my…

I’m so hopelessly future-oriented I could die!

Anticipation

I’m thinking in Spanish at night.  Just hope I’m thinking aright and not miseducating myself!

I know just enough Spanish to start flailing/failing understandably, I believe.  Gonna find out real soon, that’s for sure!

Fell asleep for four hours!

Good for me.  Dreamed about Ethel Kennedy doing sign language during Ave Maria for deaf attendees at a church service. It was beautiful!

In the dream, pundits bashed her; LBJ extolled her.

(Gads, that dream rewrote history with a nod to today’s ugliness.)

It was nice to see her again. She looked about 30 years old, the age she is in heaven, if there’s a heaven, I’m told.

I hope there is, for her and Bobby and others who gave a damn about “the least of these”…  I would rest much easier, knowing that — if I could know that with certainty.

Alas, I cannot.

Chickens are put to bed

My chores are done for the day. I hope they are as well cared for and loved after I’m gone than they are while I’m here. They are dear, dear beings.

Guess that’s it for today.

Carry on and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

HUGS!
