Busy Day Followed by Kayaking

July 24, 2025

I put in 9,583 steps today.. and I didn’t go for a walk.  That’s just the number of steps I took getting stuff done today.

Had four visitors (garage sale early birds). Made $45.  Sold my bike and a bike rack. Jackie sold her bike and a bike rack, too.

Drove to where my goats have been rehomed to help the new owner give Mr. Tumnus a shot.  He has been under the weather for quite some time (even when I had him), but he’s bouncing back now. The vet has him on antibiotics and other meds to help him recover.  He had laryngitis last week; today he has a little bit of his voice back.

Went three places to get the accessories (a mouse and protection sleeve) for my new HP laptop  that arrived today. Getting a laptop took care of the “space” needs in my luggage. I no longer have to make room for my CPU, keyboard and a monitor, so everything else I need to take will fit into the two checked bags I’m allowed. Hallelujah!  I might even get to take my favorite blanket! No guarantees there, yet, but I think I will be able to.

My CPU is almost 5 years old, so it was time to replace it anyway, and replacing electronics in CR would cost an arm and a leg, I was told.  I got a high end laptop that originally sold for $1699 for $499 brand new, because  a newer model has come out.  Good timing! Lisa says it’s a powerhouse, and she knows her stuff. She’s going to transfer my info from the CPU to the laptop sometime next week. Hurray!

Garage Sale Day Tomorrow and Saturday

I advertised two more garage sales.  We have better signs now thanks to a good Samaritan who made them for us, and I have advertised them in six different places, so we expect a larger turnout this time. I’m going to set up the camping tent with the air mattress in it so people can see what it looks like in all its glory. And we’re putting out a 4 x 8 piece of plywood on saw horses this time so we can display more items prominently than we did last weekend.  That will help.

Kayaking!

This evening I went kayaking for the first time ever.  I went to Lake Spanaway and used Judi Cooper’s spare kayak.  We met Jessie Richards and several other ladies mid-lake in their kayaks, and away we went!  It was lovely and relaxing, the perfect end to a very busy day…  I will post some pictures later; my smartphone is on its charger right now. It doesn’t seem to be holding a charge for very long, which concerns me. I will call Consumer Cellular on Monday and find out how long I should expect this new model to last between charges. My old one held a charge longer than this one does. Maybe it needs some adjustments.

Jessie Richards (We’ve been friends since we were six or so!)

Judi Cooper and Friend (Judi and I have been friends since the late -1950’s!)

GOTTA hit the hay.

I’m zzzzausted and must get up early to set up the garage sale before 9 tomorrow…
