I’ve been forced to downsize even more.
United Airlines allows just three boxes to be checked into the luggage area, each one a mere 42 linear inches, which is 14″ x 14″ x14″ essentially.
I have two Sterilite bins of the right size and a freezer bag of a slightly smaller size. I had to winnow down three and a half medium size U-Haul boxes full of stuff to make the items I absolutely need fit into the three smaller size “bins.” Which means that I had to break my heart a little more and take out precious framed photos, my parents’ cremains (I kept Deaken’s ashes: I want those interred with me!) some videos of Deaken and other loved ones I wanted to have along, and other stuff that made me smile or sigh.
I have put what I took out into a box and marked it “Wish Box” so that whenever someone from the Sea-Tac regions comes down to visit me they can tuck a few items into their luggage or check an extra box and bring them to me piecemeal across the years. That’s the only way I’ll ever see them again because shipping stuff to CR is insanely expensive.
It is what it is
I also have to buy a laptop because my CPU and monitor won’t fit into my carry on: I will have too much other stuff in it: crucial documents, calming meds for Charli, my cooling neck fan, medical records, shirts, shorts, wading shoes, and more. I may have to scale back some of those items, too. I will know as soon as the carryon gets here in a few days.
I got very creative and stuffed underwear, insect repellent, sunscreen, and other small items into the plastic food containers that I want to take down, so there isn’t a square inch of space inside the bins.
Garage Sale
The garage sale yesterday and today yielded pretty close to enough to get a laptop. Autumn McKenzie is going to buy my De/Leonard audiotapes, so that will help reach that remaining goal, too. Then Lisa can transfer my info from the desktop to the laptop (or from the external hard drive, where I keep most of my stuff) and I can start familiarizing myself with the ins and outs of working with a laptop. I know it isn’t as easy, but I may get an external keyboard for it to make it work the way I’m used to. And since I’m retired now, I can flail a little bit. I’m no longer on the clock when I write!
I’m zzzzausted!
Walked 6.5 miles just setting up the garage sale yesterday and 5.5 miles today during and after the garage sale today putting everything in the garage until next Friday and Saturday, when I’ll do it all again.
Tomorrow I plan to go see Edward Smith here it Tacoma for a few minutes before he goes in for a cataract check at the place where I had my cataracts removed. It may be the last time I see him before I fly away on Sept 3rd, so I want to be sure and do it…

We “cat people” are forever friends!
I’ve known Edward for 46 years.

I need to hit the hay now. As mentioned in bold above, I’m zzzzzzzausted!
Thank you to Heidi Smith for coming to my garage sale today! It was great to see you again. I hope it won’t be the last time before I fly away!
