It appears that the standard “Have a nice day!” has been replaced by “Stay Safe!” in the common vernacular. 

 

That’s right. I’ve been out and about this week doing various chores and errands, and in the three stores I visited, the white women checkers at the counters that  I went through wished me not a nice day but to “Stay safe” as I departed.

So, now I’m wondering, are these white women at long last waking up to the dire threat that the Trump regime is posing to them and to everyone else who is not white/male/racist/misogynist, or are they MAGA folks wishing for the “safety” of another (misperceived and sadly mistaken) MAGA “victim” of the “woke” mindset?

I never dreamed that here in the USA white women would be wishing other (perceived) white women “safety.”

I could understand it if the principals in the matter were people of color. They have always had to wish their loved ones safety.

But WHITE WOMEN?!!!

I’m stymied and concerned. I don’t know whether to thank them or to quiz them on just who it is I’m supposed to feel UN-safe with?

The demographic I feel most unsafe with now (and always have) are white male supremacists and misogynists and their handmaids. That’s the only demographic that has ever harmed or marginalized me.

Perhaps next time it happens I will ask, “Safe from whom?” instead of “thank you.”  The answers will probably be different each time.

Everyone is afraid now. Some with cause, some due to fear-mongering propaganda.
