Tacoma Pride happens this Saturday at Wright Park. I will be there to celebrate the occasion and to meet with Amy Ulen and her niece. Amy’s niece plans to move to Costa Rica, too, and they want to pick my brain a little. Looking forward to it!
I may also get a chance to see Andrew (he/they), the LGBTQIA+ community member who works at my BECU branch in Puyallup. They notarized my Social Security document the other day.
When I emailed to thank them for their help, I mentioned that I hoped to see them at Tacoma Pride. They responded, saying they weren’t aware it was this weekend, but now that they know, they will see if they can work it into their schedule.
I would love that. I would love to take a selfie of us. Andrew is a prince! Their computer monitor at BECU is festooned with sticky notes from happy “fans” (BECU members), all proclaiming how amazing Andrew is. And it’s true.
I will write you a report of the day (hopefully with some images!) after it happens on Saturday.
As For Today…
My critter-sitting begins today. A friend is going to be with me while I do my chores. She has been recovering from COVID; this will be her first outing since she was laid up so we’ll see how it goes. If it goes well, we can start walking together again tomorrow or very soon. YAY!
Update:
This morning after we arrived to care for the critters, Mr. Tumnus and Tillie May broke down and through the gate that stood between their pen and the back yard. So, my friend walked back across the street to get her hubby so he could come and figure out what tools and additional items it would take to fix the fence and make it impenetrable. Metal straps, longer screws, nails, etc.
The total task — including caring for the barnyard animals and fixing the gate — took almost two hours with him doing most of the gate-rehab work. (Poor guy — he’s still not fully recovered from being sick. What a prince!) So, what should have been a 20 to 30-minute visit ended up taking 90 minutes longer than anticipated. But all’s well that ends well! The goats will NOT be breaking down that gate again to come find me after I leave them to care for the other critters, or any other time.
What else will I be doing today?
Heaven only knows. There’s nothing else on my agenda but — like a goat fence break — no one ever knows what’s in store for us until it happens!
I suppose I could advertise my next garage sale at FB Marketplace if I felt absolutely certain I want to do one next weekend or the weekend after. I’m sooo tired of garage sales, but I have to do two more before I take the remainder to a thrift store. I need more $$ for my move to Costa Rica to make sure I have enough for the flight, boxes, CR fees for the immigration application process, document translation fees, two months’ rent and other stuff that will need to happen in very short order very soon! ACK!!!
One day at a time. Tranquilo. It will all work out!
If you can contribute to my GoFundMe campaign, that would be terrific. If you can’t, please at least share the link. We’re just under $1500 away from reaching the goal! Thanks!
