I’ll Be Writing a Brochure for a Client — and Updating Another Piece

April 17, 2024

After we meet tomorrow to hash out the details, I’ll be writing a brochure for a local client and updating another piece I wrote for them years ago.

These are the first two writing-from-scratch tasks I’ve had in months, except for work I’ve assigned myself (two books and blog posts).  It’s giving me a sense of relief, although it won’t be a terribly lucrative gig.

I’m not sure how large the brochure will be. The client says she has an example of a brochure her Board likes, so I’ll be looking at that and figuring out what it will take to make something similar happen for their organization.

I don’t know if it’s a donation request brochure (seeking funding) or an informational brochure (letting people know their organization exists, what it’s like, with an invitation to visit), or both. I’ll find that out tomorrow…

I do know this organization has kicked it up several notches since I wrote for them last time. Their materials and website definitely look more professional these days. That wasn’t always the case as they were operating on a shoestring budget back then. They received funding from the State several years ago to do more, and they have worked some wonders as a result. But ongoing state funding isn’t assured, so they need to start making inroads to continue to offer their services.

I’m very much looking forward to helping them and, after that, to helping get the word out more widely about them in any way I can.

I’ll let you know more after I land the gig, unless they want me to write under an NDA. If they do, I will need to say no more than I already have here.
