Playing catch up again. This cold has had me on my back foot for a while. Feeling better day by day now, though…
On October 13th I Wrote
…into my spiral notebook,
“10.201 steps as of 12:25 p.m. and I’m all walked out for today. I updated the blog and am eating like a leopard (feeling very carnivorous lately) and will be vegging for the rest of the day.
Tomorrow is San Jose Day #1 (You read about that in an earlier post.)
A week from tomorrow is San Jose Day #2 (You’ll be reading about that this coming Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.)
I’m feeling a lot more normal. The cold is beginning to lose its grip. Super happy about that! The coughing has bruised the parts of my lungs that border my ribcage; they were getting sore from so many collisions! Not major sore, but noticeably so.
Hard to Believe It’s Almost the Holiday Season Again
This will be my second Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day in Costa Rica. Christmas stuff is already being displayed in Grecia and San Jose.
I wonder if I want to decorate a bit this year. I haven’t wanted to for years, but this year I sorta DO.
Last year all I put up was this (on my sliding glass door):
I’ll look around in town and think about it. It might be kind of fun as long as I don’t go overboard. (I don’t mind putting things up, but I loathe taking them down!) I may just get another resin critter sculpture OR drape my existing ones in ribbons and put Santa hats on some of them. But if I do that, Charli might take it as an invitation to mess with them, so maybe not!
I’d like to Get a Little Sum’pin’ for My Costa Rica Brothers
… for Christmas (Jon, Francisco, and Adilio). Something useful. I have an idea and have sent it to Jon for yay or nay.
I’d also like to send gift cards to a couple of friends in the U.S. for their birthdays and Christmas. We’ll see what my finances look like then. If I’m all squared away with CAJA and DIMEX before then, I may be able to swing it. If not, I can make it a SPRING SURPRISE for them. I’ll make it happen SOMEHOW!
We’ll see…
I Cooked Some Rice
…but the power went off about ten minutes before it was done so it went all to mush and I ended up having to throw it away. GRRR!
On October 16 I Wrote:
My Hollywood credit union password got restored so I can access it again. YIPPEE!!!
Had to do a video call to make it happen, but at least now I can check in there to be sure my credit card doesn’t get compromised without my ability to keep an eye on it and report the issue! (It never has been compromised, but not being able to access my account made me nervous because I like to keep a close eye on that kind of stuff.)
I’ve completed 7500 steps already this morning.
Charli is hiding in the bushes because the landscape guys are here trimming the bushes. She turned her nose up at her treat this morning, which concerned me greatly, but then I smelled it and found out it was rotten smelling. I’ll keep an eye out for her and be sure she eats the next one before I start to worry about her. (Update: she’s fine. Snarfed down the next treat as usual.)
On October 17th I Wrote:
Went to Grecia on the bus this morning for medicines, pork chops, lettuce, potatoes, paper towels, body lotion and cinnamon cream muffins. Also ate a Tierra y Mar (land and sea) arroz (rice) breakfast while I waited for the next bus back to San Isidro.
When I was at Mundo Magico for the body lotion
…I was given (for free) a box with a little plastic truck in it for a 3+ year old child for having shopped there. I looked for a mom or dad with a little boy on the sidewalk as I walked to DIMI afterward to see if I could give it away to them, but didn’t see anyone.
So, when I got to the soda for breakfast, I asked one of the workers there if they had a child who might like the toy. He said he didn’t but that families come in there all the time and he would find someone to give it to. So I gave it to him.
Walked to Cindy’s at Noon
…to give her the meds she had asked me to get for her in Grecia. Also got the cat litter from her that she got for me ten days or so ago before we both got sick and stopped visiting each other daily.
Jon emailed to say he got cat litter for me at Mundo Pequeno today, too, so I will have enough cat litter now to last until March probably! That’s fine with me! Any time someone with a car picks me up a bag of cat litter, I’ll be ecstatic! Schlepping it home on a bus would SUCK! LOL!
Cooked Some More Rice
… and froze most of it. Didn’t lose power this time, although we came close! Now, I have to buy more next time I’m out and about again.
Feeling Good About the US Midterm Elections
DEMS are voting early and in record numbers. They’re using drop boxes where possible and driving their ballots to their auditor’s offices if drop boxes aren’t available. Most are not trusting the USPS to deliver them. And many more people registered as DEMS than Republicans this time, something on the order of three to four more times than Republicans.
So, I anticipate a blue tsunami followed by a T-Wrecks meltdown. I just hope his handlers keep his tiny hands off the nuclear buttons because malignant narcissists think nothing of annihilating themselves as long as they make sure to annihilate everyone else in the process.
But I do think he’s too chickenshit to take himself out. And even if he hid in his bunker when he pushed the buttons, who would be left to fawn over him and kiss his ass? He couldn’t handle the total loss of his cult; his ego couldn’t handle that. He’d almost have to take himself out at the same time so he didn’t find himself ruling over voiceless ashes…
I wish he’d just drop dead
…but then he couldn’t be held to account for his treachery and spend the rest of his life in prison, which is where he belongs. And JDV would become POTUS. He’s as bad, if not worse. Another puppet of Big Tech psychopaths Philip Yarvin and Peter Thiel. The whole administration needs to go when T Wrecks does, as does Citizens United.
The Senate MUST Turn DEM
…or we’ll get two younger, even more far right Supreme Court justices than Alito and Thomas when they retire very soon. (Hell, they might retire between now and January 3rd and then we’ll all be up Shit Creek for decades. GOD, FORBID! I’m sure that’s a possibility if the DEMS win both houses of Congress.)
There are still so many monkey wrenches that the GOP and T-Wrecks could throw between now and January 3rd. I don’t even want to think about it.
And on that note, I’m going to sleep. Hope I don’t have any nightmares now!
Today, so far, I’ve written:
7548 steps as of 6:14 a.m.
Got up around 4:15, put coffee on, and walked, so I’ve reached my walking goal already this morning! WOO HOO!
I’m listening to Spanish radio all day these days and able to hear each word now even when spoken mas rapido. Can’t understand every single word, but can get the sense of most of it, which is a definite step in the right direction!
I LOVE the Spanish Language
It’s so musical, graceful, and easy on the ear and psyche. There aren’t many guttural sounds in it, which sound harsh and unforgiving to me. Spanish comes across as “breathier” to me, as a result, more maternal than patriarchal. Very pleasant! Me encanto todo!
On Tuesday Adilio, Jon and I head back to San Jose, this time to immigration to submit my final docs (the Social Security translation letter and the document that the Embassy gave me). HURRAY! Maybe on the way back I can get Adilio to stop at Mundo Pequeno for five minutes so I can get a bunch of dehumidifying crystals there. They’re hard to find in Grecia.
Sunny-sided my bare chest and back
…for 20 minutes this morning (ten minutes on each side) to get my Vitamin D the BEST way. I want to do that every day from now on to keep my bones in good shape.
Bought Vanilla and Brown Sugar-Scented Body Lotion
…at Mundo Magico yesterday in Grecia. I love slathering it on after every shower. It smells wonderful and works wonderfully well. I’m hooked.
That’s it for this post. Will write another one on a singular political topic as soon as I post this one. Stay tuned!
