4th of July 2026 — 250 Years

July 4, 2026

I just turned my Floof’s Cafe calendar from June to July and saw this:

PERFECT FOR THE USA’S 250TH T-WRECK’S FEST!

I hope NOBODY attends, as has been the case with the 16-day (Grifters) State Fair leading up to this event. T-Wreck’s has promised the largest fireworks display in world history. May all the fireworks explode at once and burn the place beneath it down. It would be a fitting symbol of everything else he has burned down since taking office again just under a year and a half ago. Everything he touches gets torched. This should be no different.

F**K HIS REGIME AND GOD BLESS THE USA ONLY WHEN

…it reflects its goodness wherever that goodness is on any given day and in every given person and politician.

The USA is a grand idea and experience ONLY WHEN

…the better angels of human nature take precedence, and I hope and think they’re now assembling in sufficient numbers and political power to overcome the basest human proclivities that are being expressed and enforced from the highest offices in the land presently. It’s still possible to triumph — perhaps even PROBABLE. US citizens want better than we’re getting from the government and we still have the clout to demand and expect representation and fulfillment of our needs (when we turn out in irrepressible numbers to vote!) UNLESS Musk has sabotaged our vote counting protocols and left an untraceable trail to uncover the proof.

We MUST reject and resist

…the current trajectory of T-Wreck’s Project 2025 and the tech oligarchs!  The alternative is feudal serfdom and WE AREN’T GOING BACK TO THAT!

So, happy 4th!!!  Go forth and RECLAIM WHAT’S YOURS UNDER A DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC:

life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness

for ALL of your citizens!!!

IT’S NOW OR NEVER!

In the meantime, I will be wearing this bracelet and have bought several more for friends:

In Other News…

On July 3rd at 1:53 I wrote:

4700 steps so far today…

I’ve been back from Grecia since about 10 a.m. Went to Pali, Subway, DIMI and Mercado Municipal after first stopping at Banco Nacional to get 80K colones. The Paypal money came in from my editing client in Puerto Rico so I withdrew $114 of that to cover Charli’s dentistry yesterday which I had borrowed from the existing rent money for July until I could get into town to replace it.

I WhatsApp’d with Lisa and Deb while I was on the bus

…to and from Grecia. Deb is still in seclusion but I wanted to send her my love and support and to let her know I have the rent when she’s ready for a quick visit so I can hand it to her.  She also wants to give me Mao’s leftover cat food and perhaps cat litter, and that’s probably going to be emotional for her, so I’m honoring her timeline on our next interaction.

Lisa has been concentrating on her personal projects (professional web-based enterprises) —  HURRAY!  — and will be getting Sonia’s finalized stories to illustrate as we complete them. I don’t feel like tackling the two stories I have on my plate today — I’m still recovering from the past few days’ duties and activities — so I’ll do them tomorrow or Sunday. Probably Sunday.

Charli Has Been Sacked Out All Day

…one day post-dentistry. She was overly clingy last night — needed lots of hands on petting six or seven times overnight. I think her gums are probably sore and still recovering so that probably adds to her sacked out behavior, too.  She ate a LOT post-dentistry while she was still groggy but hasn’t eaten much since, although she has drunk water numerous times.

My CR family will be heading to SJO Soon

… to check in for their flight to gay Paree. I sure hope they all survive the brutal temperatures that they’ll experience while there. I offered to loan them my personal, wearable fans but they said no. I hope they at least took their sombrillas (sun-shading umbrellas) along!

At 5:58 I Wrote

Took a three hour nap here on the loveseat!  Guess I needed it!  Then I had two pieces of toast with olive oil on them, a small piece of cheese, and a mug of cocoa.  That will be all for tonight.

I gave Charli one pouch/serving of wet cat food. She didn’t eat it all, so I reckon she has been eating the dry kibble off and on. That’s GOOD ’cause she’s only getting one wet pouch a day from now on, as opposed to three or four, to prevent tartar buildup going forward. The vet says she is the perfect weight for her size, around four and a half pounds. (She’s a little cat.)

In town today I bought

…four gel pens at DIMI (two blue ink, two black)

1/2 kilo of mamon fruit, celery, potatoes, and two skinless, sliced chicken breasts at Mercado Municipal, dry and wet cat food, two cans of sweet corn, two packages of Lizano salsa and black bean molido at Pali, and a half Subway sandwich at Subway. (Didn’t get to Subway on Wednesday because of Mao’s urgent needs.)

That’s not a lot of food, but its enough until I get back in next week.

There isn’t much more news. The trial (a dear friend’s aunt and uncle were murdered by their own adult son) ended with a conviction on all eight counts, so the perpetrator will be kept behind bars probably for the rest of his life. Which is good for my friend’s family and for society at large because the murders were particularly gruesome and the individual is obviously unstable and remains a danger. (He even took the stand in his own defense much to his defense attorney’s surprise and consternation, called the witness who defended him a liar, and entirely blew up the defense that his attorney had offered for his act! Sheesh!) My friend didn’t attend the trial; her father and a cousin did. She does plan to attend the sentencing in August, though.

I’m going back to sleep very soon

Night has fallen here now. It’s 6:28 and my CR hermanos should be in the air soon on their way to Paris. I’m holding all good thoughts for their trip and hope they have the times of their lives there. Francisco has never been in a country that doesn’t “sundown” at 6 p.m. so he’s going to be experiencing his first-ever late-night daylight, which should tickle him no end.

This morning, July 4th at 5 a.m., I wrote:

Up early because I spent most of the past 14 hours sound asleep and I’m FINALLY all slept out!  Brewing coffee now and will be drinking pure water all day long. Gonna stop adulterating it with TANG and maybe get lemons and limes off the tree in our orchard to put in it instead, although the water here tastes FABULOUS all by itself.

Looks like it’s going to be an overcast morning with perhaps some rain. I was actually cool — almost cold at times — in Grecia yesterday morning and I had on long pants and a shirt with long sleeves.

I’m thinking of going in again today. I need more colones for the rent (I’m just 2K colones short, but I also need some for future bus rides. I don’t like being down to almost nothing in my wallet!)

If I do go in, I can get a huge roll of paper towels at DIMI. Almost got that yesterday but my cart was so full that adding that would have spilled over to another grocery sack and been unwieldy on the bus, so I didn’t get it for that reason alone.  I still have plenty until next week, though, so it isn’t necessary to get another one, but it seems a waste of a trip to go down just for more money.  May as well take advantage of the ride and get something else that will be needed eventually…

I looked at some coloring pens and coloring books at DIMI yesterday but none of them screamed TAKE ME HOME so I didn’t get them.

That’s all for this time.
