WOO HOO! I just found out that Hugh Jackman is in Costa Rica. I love the idea of sharing my adopted country with him for a few days!
He’s nowhere near where I am, I hasten to add, but he’s closer than he has ever been before, and that works for me! LOL!
Yes, I’m a Hugh Jackman fan, although I have never seen any of the Wolverine movies or the vast majority of his other motion pictures.
I go bonkers for his musicals, though: Les Miserables, The Greatest Showman. I even enjoed him in OKLAHOMA years ago. I’ve seen several interviews with him (OPRAH, Colbert, etc.). He seems like a very nice, fun person.
You Couldn’t Get Me to Cross the Street for Most Celebrities
(No skin off their teeth/nose/back, I’m sure! LOL!)
(I have a thing for GOOD PEOPLE, though, well-known or not!)
When you’ve known and loved the very best (DeForest Kelley as a human being!), the celebrity rest become less alluring.
Except for a select few.
He was a total delight. We talked about De and Karl’s portrayal of Bones, of course, during the fifteen minutes or so that Lisa and I had with him at a Seattle Comic Con about eight years ago. You can read about that at the link above if you’re at all interested.)

I’d love to meet Stephen Colbert and Michelle Obama.
(OK, and Barack, too, but if I had to choose just one from this dynamic duo, it would be Michelle.)
Who else would I love to meet (of people who are still alive as of this blog post)???
I would love to meet Joe Biden again, and Dr. Jill Biden. Just to tell ’em I love ’em and to thank them for their lifetimes of service in politics and education. Decent people with hearts get my votes!!!

Bernie Sanders. I’ve been within 15-20 feet of him once. At the Tacoma Dome. 2020.
Lisa got even closer. Tantalizingly within reach of shaking his hand.

Bernie is a curmudgeonly bulldog with a heart of gold and an inerrant, impeccable sense of what’s right and wrong when it comes to wanting the best for people.
Alexandria Ocasio Cortez
Pete Buttigieg
Zohran Mamdani
Those are just off the top of my head.
Past Heroes:

George McGovern
I got to shake his hand and received Christmas cards from him and Eleanor for years after he ran for POTUS.
I campaigned for McGovern-Shriver in Lake Charles LA and they WON HANDILY in that parish!!!
(Monumental surprise and massive accomplishment!)

Senator Robert F. Kennedy
Jane Goodall
Yes, there are others. It’s just very early in the morning so these are off the top of my head.
Who are your “celebrity/political heroes”?
In Other News…
I’ve decided to stay home today and forego the lunch gathering this week. That’s because I have to go in tomorrow for bloodwork, and I can shop then for a few groceries to get me through the weekend. Marianela will be driving me then so I can get the rice cooker and a small bag of dry Science Diet cat food for Charli, too, since she will be driving me back home as well. Dale and Crystal are both under the weather, so they won’t be going, either. I hate to miss the last lunch of 2025, but there are plenty more ahead in 2026, so that helps me feel better about it.
I’m up in the middle of the night because I slept from sundown to midnight and then remembered that I hadn’t inserted into yesterday’s blog post a few more of the friend pix that I intended to include and spaced on. So, I got up to do that and made some hot chocolate and toast, and one thing led to another, so you got THIS blog post as a result.
And now… I need to get back to sleep. My eyelids are getting heavy again.
More later on after I wake up again!
