WOO HOO! Got a Bonus Today!

March 22, 2014

Just in the nick of time, I’m getting enough money in the coffers to meet my routine obligations during this (routinely) molasses-slow month. God is good all the time!

This morning I received a $75 bonus from a client I’ve been serving every few days for the last couple of weeks. He has loved everything I’ve done for him and will be sending me more work, but he has absolutely NO idea how helpful the bonus will be. It’s no fun to go backward financially and I don’t want to have to raise my rates, so things like this help me–a lot!

In response to my client’s generosity, I’m doing some discounted fee writing for a young fellow who has a start-up diving business in Mexico. I resonate with what he’s doing to make a living, and want to help but he’s struggling mightily right now (his website sucks!) so I’ll give him what he needs to get three pages of his website up to par so he can start reeling in turistas.

He says he can afford $180 right now for three SEO keyword-based pages of 250 to 300 words and that he will send more next month to do three more.

I’m giving him 3500 words (a total of 7-8 hours of work including research) because he needs to attract business fast and the more helpful, engaging words there are on a SEO-keyword based page these days, the better. Normally that much copy would run $600 to $700 (not counting the research). (I usually don’t offer independent research but he doesn’t speak English fluently so asking him to go looking for it would be too hard on him.)

I’m not a diver but the copy I wrote for him makes me want to become one, so it should work! He is taking people to some amazing places on the Yucatan Peninsula. I researched them and they’re all stinkin’ awesome so if I ever get to Mexico, I intend to look him up and have him take me snorkeling in lieu of what I should be charging him for the amount of time I’m investing pro bono for his enterprise.

When his site gets to where it should be, I’ll put the link here so you can make arrangements to hire him if you’re ever in the market for shallow or deep sea diving.  If you’re going to Mexico before his site is ready to roll out and you plan to dive while visiting the Yucatan Peninsula, let me know and I’ll point you to him before his site rocks, because the sooner he makes money, the better–and I know he’ll treat you right. I feel very good about him. I think you’ll have a great time with him exploring world-renowned cenotes (Mayan for “sacred wells”), coral reefs, shipwrecks, shark and stingray territories, and other underwater wonders…
