ORDERS FROM NEW ZEALAND HEADQUARTERS: DO NOTHING — WE’RE IN CHARGE!

January 24, 2024

Orders from New Zealand headquarters: DO NOTHING. ARE WE IN CHARGE!

That’s the best news I’ve heard since the spinach factory blew up!

Our only marching orders are to get some NZ currency in the Auckland International Airport before we head for the waiting area where Helen Schofield will be waiting for us. We owe her $120 each because she has bought and scheduled the Hobbiton tour for us already. She won’t tell us when that is because she wants to surprise us.  GULP!    I asked “What if Karl Urban calls me to set up a time to get together?”  She said, “Have him call me.  We’re your chauffeurs and event scheduler!” So, there ya go!  (I did give Karl her contact info when I reached out to him, so he probably would have done that anyway.)

Oh, crap!  This means that if (big IF!) he does schedule something, Lisa and I won’t know anything about it until it happens. Well, that’ll be interesting!

The U.S. dollar is worth $1.60 there currently, so whatever we have left after we pay Helen back should cover any incidentals while we’re there. Our credit and debit cards will work there. We’ve already notified our financial institutions of our vacation dates so they won’t shut down our money supply when they see charges coming from NZ and touchdown places between.

The bad news is that two months from now our vacation will be behind us and we’ll have only photos, videos, and (maybe) a few souvenirs to reignite the memories of our time there…  WAAHHHH!!!

But hey, let’s look on the bright side: WE’RE GOING!!!  Neither of us have had a vacation in decades. Helen and Debbie have taken all the responsibilities off our plates.  We’re going Down Under to rest, relax, rejuvenate and hit a few spots that Lisa and I want to see. We don’t have to drive.  We can help with petrol (see, I’m getting the hang of the vernacular already!) and just sit there like bumps in the back seat while Debbie drives us wherever we go, whenever they take us.  WHEEEE!!!

Can we leave tomorrow, please?!

HOLD YOUR HORSES, KRIS!
