Motivational Speech in Graham Feb. 4th

January 20, 2015

I’ve been asked to give a motivational speech to  high school students and their teachers and parents during a big event on February 4th in Graham. It should be a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to it.

The topic I’ve been assigned: “How to Stay Positive”. That’s perfect for me. I should be able to lift some talking points right out of my book Settle for Best: Satisfy the Winner You Were Born to Be for it, but I have some other ideas, too. (There’s a two-page, perhaps 500-word chapter in there called “Ignore Naysayers.” I could read that verbatim! Ignoring naysayers is 75% of the battle, usually!)

I will also be on a 4-6 person Arts & Communication panel. Students will spend 30 minutes each with the different panels asking whatever questions they have about the professions we’re in. It ought to be fun and fascinating, to say the least.

The event will be held at Graham-Kapowsin High School from 6:00 to 8:00. My speech will be toward the end of the evening, sometime between 7:30 and 8:00, I believe.  I’ll have a table there, too..

Ed says I’ll speak after a lady from Fox TV here in Tacoma. Wow.  That ought to be interesting! She graduated from Graham-Kapowsin, from what I hear…so that makes sense.

Now I’m wondering if Fox TV will be there to cover the event. That would be cool…

In Other News

I’m waiting with almost-‘bated breath for the birth of goat babies. They’re due today. I’ve installed a baby monitor in their shed so I can hear if they start grunting and having issues out there. When they’re underway, I need to call Lisa Taylor so she can drive over and we can sit out there and be sure everything goes smoothly. If it doesn’t, we have to be there to help… (Most of the time, goats do fine all by themselves, luckily!)

We can’t wait to welcome them to the world…  I’ll post photos as soon as they arrive (or shortly after, when they’re cleaned up and looking adorable).
