Monday Motions

September 21, 2026

I was in motion all morning.

Got some hand-me-down clothes and — later — helped Cindy de-cobweb her entire upstairs picture window. (More on that in a minute.)

(Unfortunately, I didn’t think to ask Cindy to take any video or pictures of me up on her ladder doing the deed, dammit!)

My day officially began when walking with Cindy and her three littlest dogs (Jenny and Bella, her two chihuahuas, and Harper) at 7 a.m. We finished that task around 7:45.

Since Harper’s stitch-removal appointment was scheduled for 9:30, and we had to leave at 9:00 to get there, Cindy invited me to stay for an hour and a quarter until it was time to head out.

Cindy mentioned having a sack of clothes

…that she wanted to donate to the church. I wondered aloud how close to the same size we are, since I’ve shrunk considerably since moving to Costa Rica.  Although Cindy is slightly smaller, I wondered if I could fit into some of her cast offs. She let me go through the sack and try on any I liked while she took a shower.

I undressed in her living room and started pulling out jeans, slacks, sweaters and shirts.  I figured the jeans and shorts would all be too small, since their sizes read 14 or less, but I was able to fit into all but two pairs. (They were size 8 and 10.)

All of the shirts fit, but some were too girly for me. Unisex is fine; frilly, not so much!

But I ended up with a great selection:

COBWEB DUTY

Before she went upstairs to shower, Cindy mentioned wanting to climb a ladder outside her place to wash the massive cobwebs off the picture windows that run the entire length of her upstairs floor on one side of her home. She asked if I would be willing to stay to be sure she didn’t fall off while she was doing that.  I said, “Of course!”

While she was upstairs, I thought that since Costa Rica’s heavy downpours hadn’t kept the cobwebs at bay, I doubted that hitting them with focused spray from a garden hose would be very effective.

When Cindy got back downstairs, I suggested masking taping her patio broom to a long piece of PVC pipe to sweep the cobwebs away before we sprayed with water. She thought that made sense, so we created the broom pole, set up the ladder, and pulled the hose into place.

Since I’m younger than Cindy is by half a decade, I insisted on climbing the ladder and being the cobweb/spider sweeper and window washer.  It worked out beautifully.  It probably took about a half hour after we got back from the vet to get it all done.

The place looks terrific again. Far less Halloween-y than I’ve ever seen it looking! We’re gonna repeat the process every three or four months, if need be.  Easy peasy, and not at all dangerous, the way we do it!

I’m soooo bummed that we didn’t think to get before, during and after images of the process.  We will next time, for sure!

After that, Cindy drove us

…the few blocks to the produce store and Super San Isidro so we could get veggies and a few other things, and then she drove me home before heading home herself.

We always have such a good time together. And since we’re two introverts and semi-recluses who cherish our alone times, that’s saying something! I’m glad we connected a couple months ago!  Our personalities are different but we enjoy being “weird” with each other.

(Her cup is always half empty and she tells me she hates Costa Rica; my cup is  somewhere between half full and overflowing, depending on the day, and I LOVE Costa Rica!  But we’re both progressives with similar family dynamics; this helps because in such cases, misery appreciates company!)

She and I will be going to Maxi Pali sometime tomorrow for a few more things.

Wednesday I’ll take a bus to town to get more colones and a Subway sandwich.

Thursday I’ll be doing the voting event with Kathy Neckar most of the day and getting my ballot on its way to being counted UNLESS I can get my ballot printed out, the required page signed, and returned via email beforehand. Cindy has a printer.  We’re gonna try on Wednesday when I get back from Grecia.

Looks like it’s going to be a full week.  I will try to remember to take pictures!

That’s about it for this time.
