Today Topher Benum and I spent a little while this morning visiting the waterfalls that are 100 feet or so down a gulch from the hotel units where we’re staying and then enjoyed a second excursion to Grecia.

We walked down to the falls first. On the way, I spotted a downed bee hive that was just aching to be collected (in my fevered mind).
Topher, I’m sure, thought I was nuts to just assume it was unoccupied, but based on the active one I know about and have photographed before, I was 100% sure it was abandoned. I was right, so I brought it back to my unit.
By the time I got it back here, the bottom had come off, so I was able to photograph the honeycomb inside. Fascinating!
After that, we ate breakfast and then hired an Uber driver to take us back to Grecia, where we were finally able to enter the world-famous metal church and experience its sacred ambiance.

A church service was in its final moments, just wrapping up, so we lingered and listened to the priest offering a benediction to the assembled congregation. Then we went back outside and across the lane to the parque.

We absolutely had to eat at Cafe Delicious again. Its Executive Plate is to die for, so we both ordered it this time. It was just $10 and there was lots of it to enjoy!
Then we walked across the street to the biggest pharmacy (farmacia) where I was able to confirm that they carry warfarin and levothyroxine over the counter, so I won’t have to get a doctor and get a prescription written when the amounts I have run out. All I need to do is let them know a week in advance so they can order the warfarin in from San Jose. I just have to show them my prescription bottle the first time so they know I’m filling a pre-prescribed amount and quantity.
We also visited a supermarket (supermercado) and a stationery store where we got a few things for the community VE pantry. I bought AA and AAA batteries and a small notebook plus a small three-ring binder to keep my Spanish notes in. (Had I left them in their original binders, I would have had to pay extra baggage fees to fly here.)
Two people have found me potential rentals already in the El Cajon area, about 20 minutes’ away from Grecia by bus. It’s a super nice neighborhood; my first driver was from there and he said the community will adopt me as a family member right away if I choose to locate there. He will be looking for rental options for me, too. So, that’s three folks on the lookout for my permanent abode!
I was able to register for MediSmart this morning by calling them direct. The website wasn’t working properly. The only hiccup is that the confirmation notification came back in Spanish, and I don’t know what they want me to do with it. I will ask someone tonight or tomorrow. I do know that Charli and I are covered now for a year, and coverage will continue annually automatically unless I call to cancel. No chance of that while I’m alive and breathing!
I will be out of town tomorrow on my way to San Jose for fingerprinting, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to blog tomorrow. Don’t worry, if not. The next three days are going to be busy ones for me!
