Had a busy morning.
There were three grocery stops — one to Winco for cat food, milk for Patches, and soda pop for me; one to Albertson’s for baby back pork ribs for my crockpot (I had a 20% off coupon for getting my flu shot yesterday, or I’d have bought that at Winco, too) , and one to Valley Liquidation for watermelon and chopped lettuce for the hens and iceberg lettuce for me.
After those, I stopped at Wilco to buy 80 pounds of layers crumble for the hens, then called Consumer Cellular to get an update on the unlocking of my phone (still in process; they’ve hit a snag) and my 401K place to find out why I’m locked out of my account. (They’re working on fixing that.) Technical issues.
At a wee bit after noon, I drove to the Clarks again for a final, fond farewell and to get selfies with Catherine and Derreck. Catherine gave me a couple more of her yummy homemade muffins, baked just this morning.

Last night’s farewell dinner with Bohemia had to be cancelled, as did yesterday’s meeting with my insurance broker
Boh’s power went out, so she had to cancel. I don’t know if we’ll have another chance to connect before I leave, but I hope so. I still have two of the screws that hold the antique mirror to the antique dresser I gave to her! I’m sure she can get replacements, but it’s a good excuse to get together one more time before Sept 3rd, if that’s in the cards for us.
I Have Eight or ten More Scheduled Events Before I Leave:
- Charli’s vet appointment here at my place
- Meeting with my insurance broker on the 26th at 2 p.m.
- Coumadin Clinic INR re-check on the 27th
- Farewell get together with Yolanda Markle Red Smith on the 31st
- Two family dinners and Mexican Trains game nights with Jackie and her family on Saturday or Sunday evenings
- Furniture moving to Lisa’s and Doug’s during at least two of Lisa’s days off in the next week and a half
I’m pretty sure other things will pop up, but that’s what on the agenda at this time.
Whew!!!
The rest of the time, I will rest and relax with the best of the laid back folks!
Please Note: There are no NATIVE blue and gold macaws in Costa Rica. There are a few flying free from the exotic bird trade, but they are not natives.
The image above is of a tamed blue and gold macaw taken by me several years ago in Tacoma WA.
