Sunday Morning Moments

August 30, 2026

It’s Sunday morning and I’ve been busier than a cat covering — uh — well, you know! But it has been all fun stuff, so I’m not griping!

I don’t walk with Cindy on Sundays or Wednesdays, but we always check up on each other anyway.  So we texted this morning, wished each other a good day, and I expected to spend the morning happy and inactive.

Turns out I spent it happy and active!

I made coffee, spotted a new background music and images option that I wanted to try — African music and AI image sights, including lots of animals and beautiful African men, women and children — and sat down to watch it while I enjoyed the coffee.

As it turns out, many of the motions shown in the option mirrored the motions that Cindy and I made when we watched and followed her 10-minute tai chi exercise program, so after finishing my coffee, I stood before the flatscreen , stepped side to side in time with the music, and followed the arm and body movements of the African dancers/worshippers.

I did this for at least 30 minutes; was mesmerized by the images and exercise. I didn’t time it because I wasn’t expecting to want to do it for more than ten minutes.

The time went by in  a flash

As an unexpected result, extra energy and the desire to do something more was summoned up, so I decided to move everything out of my bathroom and scrub the tile floor.

Did that and still wanted to do more.

So, I did the same thing in my bedroom. (Except that I didn’t move the bed or my dresser; both are accessible underneath without moving them.)

I pitched the runner rug out onto the patio and mopped the tile floor. Then I swished out the mop in the shower and took it outside to scrub the runner rug.

During all this, Charli

…noticed these odd new behaviors in “our” daily Sunday routine and became persistent and perplexed. She situated herself before the flatscreen  (consciously blocking my view to be sure I saw her) and meowed repeatedly at me, indicating something (I’m sure) along the lines of, “What are you doing, walking flaky like that and flailing your arms? Are you having a seizure?

I tried picking her up and holding her on my shoulder to reassure her, but she wanted none of that. She just wanted me to stop behaving “unnaturally”/inconsistently with the way I usually walk and gesture.

After that, I decided to do the bathroom and bedroom, as mentioned before.

Well!!!!

The moment I started carrying every item that was movable out of the bathroom (corner towel rack, bathroom scale, toilet paper package, waste basket, etc.) Charli immediately thought (I’m sure), “Oh, no!  We’re moving again!”

So, I put her outside so she’d know we aren’t moving. (When we move, I always keep her inside so she doesn’t disappear when we need to go.)

But I left the sliding glass door open (with the sliding screen door shut) so she could look in and observe the goings on inside.

She sat there like a life coach, offering frequent comments on the progress of this non-move.

A couple times, she asked to come in, but when she saw and felt that the tile was still wet, she demurred and went right back outside.

Charli Makes Everything SO Much More Fun

She takes my mind off the “work” and places it on her reactions to it. She’s a kick. I love her beyond expression. But you know that already!

Tomorrow I Need to Get More Creamy Cat Treats

We’re down to two left — one for this evening and one for tomorrow morning.

So, I guess this means I have to catch a bus to Grecia on Monday (if they’re running — it’s National Day of the Black Person here tomorrow, a national holiday, so I have to check into that).  There may be some down in San Isidro, but they’ll come at a higher cost, if so.

Charli will call the SPCA if she doesn’t get her treat tomorrow night!

Update: Cindy told me to restrict Charli’s phone privileges!

What a card Cindy is!  (Where are the crying emojis when you need them?)
