I’m working on a unique personal prayer that reveals my heart and where I stand on the “religion/spirituality” spectrum.
This isn’t the final draft (I don’t think) but it’s pretty close:
“Celestial Creator …
in whatever form You are and in whatever guise you reveal Yourself to we humans (imperfect receptors that we are),
please accept our individual and collective appreciation and our diverse devotions for your precious, life-giving provisions to our planet and to all other places in the cosmos capable of creating and sustaining life in its uncountable and presently unknowable forms.
Looking at the beauty and majesty of the natural world — including our place in it as one of its innumerable wonders and mysteries — it is impossible for me to image that you do not exist in some form to have created and fostered all of it.
I will always strive to acknowledge You on a daily basis in every way that occurs to me, from blessing the foods you provide to experiencing the multiple joys of precious interactions with animals, humans and other promptings and provisions of Nature that You have created to sustain all that lives in all their forms.
May my life become a testament to Your Benevolent Embrace of every person and creature I meet. Amen.”
