WOO HOO! I made almost $50 in book royalties this month.
How cool is that?!
That hasn’t happened in quite a while!
I wonder if it happened because of my presence at Bloom’s late last month? I mentioned being a retired copy and content writer in addition to being the author of 17 books, but it was a quick intro — nothing earth-shaking. I just don’t know what else would account for it. I usually get less than half of that each month. I just hope it continues, because I am making no other income these days.
(Hint/suggestion: if you’re enjoying my blog posts, donating $5 or more now and then into my Paypal kitty would be VERY MUCH appreciated! Details are at the end of every post!)
TOOK THE BUS TO GRECIA THIS MORNING
Hopped off it a few blocks early because it stopped very close to Davidienda Bank, where I wanted to get USD to pay my upcoming March rent. After I did that, I walked to Banco Nacional (two blocks down the same street) to get 30,000 colones (about $60) for the feria, a short taxi ride, and lunch on Friday, since I will be riding in with Crystal and Dale again directly to the feria and won’t be near a bank that day except to hop back on a bus after lunch.
After hitting the banks, I walked to Subway for a six inch sandwich that was to die for. I have to remember what sauces I put on it so I can order the same thing next time I eat there. (I usually eat there on the days when I get my INR checked, about once a month.)
Then I walked up the hill from Subway several blocks to Clinica Sanchez to get my blood drawn and my INR checked. It is exactly where I want it to be now, so I know the dosage to keep it at: two 5 mg tablets of Warfarin two days a week and 2.5 mg tablets the other five days. If that works again, I will get it checked every five to six weeks instead of every four weeks, although it only costs $16 to have the test done down here, with my MediSmart discount.
After I had that done, I walked back down the slope back into Grecia Central and bought a white t-shirt (actually an undershirt) without sleeves at Huracan. I wanted something I can wear that’s completely sleeveless but not so open on the sides. This one is perfect.
Then I went to a grocery store and picked up groceries, new sponges, more cat food, and six rolls of TP. That was my limit because I filled my cart to the brim and didn’t want to have to lug an extra plastic bag back on the bus; the cart was heavy enough because I got four quarts of liquids (melocoton/peach nectar and leche/milk), a combo pack of Lizano Salsa (of course!),ten pouches of cat food, frijoles (refried black beans), and I don’t remember what else, but it all added up to being pretty hefty to lift up and down the bus steps. In a single sound bite, there is no way I’m going to starve before Friday when I visit the feria for pescado/fish, pollo/chicken, jamon/ham, hongos/mushrooms and anything else that floats my boat…
Walked Four Times Around the Futbol Field While Waiting for the Bus in San Isidro
I walked early to “three corners” this morning so I could get in a few laps before the bus to Grecia arrived there. I think I did close to 4500 steps (including the walk down) before the bus came. In Grecia, I walked even more, so now I’m at 9,696 steps for the day so far (at 1:37 p.m.).
Yesterday I walked 11,036 steps.
It’s pleasant again today. I heard it was supposed to rain midmorning here, but it didn’t. Rain is so rare here this time of year that I doubted the forecast, but I always have my umbrella/sombrilla along because it comes in handy, rain and shine! I forgot to put sunscreen on today, but I wore my hat, long pants and a long-sleeve shirt, so I didn’t get fried. Most of the places I walked were in the shade or under roofs, so I was pretty safe.
I skipped T-Wrecks’ SOTU last night; cannot stand the sound of his voice or his lies. I did listen to most of the People’s SOTU instead and will listen to Heather Cox Richardson’s SOTU right now. She’s my North Star during this tremendously trying time in our nation’s history/misery. And she mentions planning to listen to State of the Swamp after it airs, too!!! So that’s where I’m going next!
That’s all for this time.
