What Has Gotten Into Me? Merry Maids Time!

November 13, 2022

I am in Merry Maids-type cleaning mood. I haven’t been this motivated since I had company this summer and fall.

Not that I let this place go to hell since Hannah left on October 8th, but I hadn’t yet taken action to put away all of the Kelley boxes that I brought out of storage in August to share with Helen Schofield (from NZ) and her (from NJ). They’ve been sitting in my living room (critter corral) and in my bedroom for months. I kept looking at them and thinking, “Yeah, I have to get those back into storage,” but they’re heavy — probably 60 or more pounds each — and I just wasn’t feeling like doing that until the middle of the night, so I commited to doing them first thing this morning.

Well!  That lit the fire.  I felt so good about freeing up that space that I just kept going. Anything that wasn’t in its proper place got put in its proper place.  Jackie gave me a little table that she wasn’t using, so I made it into a “den office” side table and reorganized that area. Then I went into the office den closet and put everything in there in order, since the stuff I had taken out of there to put on the side table opened up opportunities to find a place for everything that was strewed around the closet.

One thing led to another — I used a freed up box that was just the right size to place all of the wet cat food cans and jars in it so it would all be in one place. That freed up space to …. well, you get the idea.  I just never stopped until this place was in SHOWCASE order (within reason).  I feel very accomplished!

Today or tomorrow I’m supposed to be getting a 4″ bed topper, so when that arrives, I will put it on the bed and make the bed up (I had to buy new sheets to accommodate a 24″ mattress span, including the additional 4″) and then I will have everything in order.

What a feeling of accomplishment!

Below are a few images of what I’ve accomplished. (No, you DON’T get a BEFORE view.  Thank your lucky stars! Hodgepodge City!!)

In the back up aquarium (the one I put the fish in while I clean the 55-gallon tank) are the plants I rescued from outside.)

Where all my miscellaneous extra paper is stored (art paper, color paper, tablets, etc.)

Business supplies cabinet in den (tape recorder, tape, labels, envelopes, etc.)

The black table is the one Jackie gave me.

Looking pretty spiffy, huh?!

I like it.  It inspires me to get things done, but not today! Today I’m not doing anything more. It’s the whee-kend! Yesterday I drove to Yelm to catch BLACK PANTHER II WAKANDA FOREVER with my friend Edward Smith. We ate at Dairy Queen afterward.  T’was a great day and now I want to veg before hitting the ground running tomorrow to finish writing a course for a client.  Two days finished, one to go!
