I took the bus to Grecia this morning because I got a wild hair to get shoes (early) for my birthday.
Got some other stuff, too.
First I went to Central Pharmacy with my thyroid box and bottle of Warfarin so I could have those refilled.
Then I crossed the street to Payless, where Francisco and Jon said I’d find the best quality walking shoes for the best prices. They were right. I got two pairs of very high quality shoes, gel sole inserts, and 12 pairs of ankle socks for about 50,000 colones ($100 USD).
After that I walked up the street to Subway and bought a six inch sandwich and limonada and enjoyed those.
Next, I got 30 colones (about $60 USD) from Banco Nacional for the feria and maybe lunch on Friday.
Then I went to Mercado Municipal and bought hair coloring.
Bought a loaf of bread, a carton of milk and a carton of peach nectar at the store across from Mercado Municipal because the prices there are so much better than here in the smaller S.I. mini marts. Now I have a LOT of milk and nectar, though! It will last a while!
I was back on the bus heading home at 11:10. Got into Grecia about 9:00. I took my time in town. Tranquilo, baby! Had no other pressing engagements!
The (Potential) Trouble with New Shoes
I nearly always trip some (without falling down!) for the first week or so after getting new shoes. I think that’s because I wear the old shoes so long that the soles get worn down, so I don’t lift my feet well enough off the ground with new shoes with thicker soles.
So, I just have to be more mindful while I break these new ones in. Need to remember to lift my dang feet a wee bit higher with each step. I’m wearing them here in the house today so I can familiarize myself with them. Tomorrow they’ll get their first “out and about” walk when I go down the hill to walk with Crystal.
Nancy Graf — my late friend from Sacramento — held a memory of me tripping that never failed to put her — and me — into hysterics. I have written about it before in this blog. If you want a laugh, go read it!
Didn’t Get a Churchill Today
Because I drank limonada at Subway, I didn’t get a Churchill today. I am promising myself to get one the next time I take the bus to town. It’s time. I’ve been here almost six months, fer heaven’s sake! It’s criminal that I haven’t experienced a Churchill yet! It may end up being too sweet for my liking, but I won’t know ’til I’ve had one…
Dragged grass clippings into my apartment so had to sweep it again
This weekend workers came in and mowed the lawn, so when I rolled the cart in through the front door after shopping it deposited grass clippings from the front door to the bedroom. So, my first chore was sweeping that mess up. My secomd chore was feeding Charli again. My third chore was writing this post.
But NONE of them felt like real chores. Everything I do here feels like pure pleasure.
Gonna study some Spanish now.
Have a great day!
