Walkies in My New Arctic Cool Shirt Sleeveless Shirt
This morning after visiting the Coumadin Clinic to get my marching orders for the days leading up to and following my June 9th surgery, I donned one of my two new Arctic Cool shirts (the sleeveless one) and hit the road before it became too hot to enjoy a brisk two mile walk around the neighborhood.
I bought two Arctic Cool shirts. This is the other one. They look kinda Trekkie, don’t they? (That isn’t the only reason I bought them, but it’s one of them.)
They are designed to cool you off when you sweat or when you pour or spray water on them in high temperatures. They work well in this way. I’m very happy with them.
They’re clingy — they fit your body shape — so these will look better on me after surgery than they do right now (most of my bulges will be gone), but they look okay even now, as long as I don’t sit down in them. (When I stand and walk, my multiple folds of loose skin head south, so the bulges aren’t as obvious at those times.)
I Have Loose Skin in Abundance
I noticed lying on my side (nude) last night that I have enough loose skin on my tummy and abdomen to make up at least one and a half Hunters (Hunter is my cat; he weighs weighs 11 or 12 pounds), so I think I’m going to be losing at least 14 pounds (and probably more) of weight in loose skin alone. That’s going to change my body contours ad my body mass index (BMI) a lot.
My BMI right now is 32.4. After losing 16 pounds it will be 29.9. (These are averages. BMI isn’t 100% accurate; some people have heavier bones and more muscle: I’m one of those, so my BMI registers higher than I actually am.) I will still be considered “overweight” but if I stay on my current exercise regimen (which I plan to do because I’m loving it so), I expect I’ll lose a little more post-surgery when I get back into my exercise routine big time again.
I will probably have to buy new pants, at the very least. I bought 38″ jeans, but I may have to take them back and get smaller ones. I won’t know for at least a month after surgery because there will be swelling, settling and all that going on for at least that long. I can wear belts in the meantime to keep my pants from falling down around my ankles.
I’ve bought smaller shirts already, so I’m good to go there… Can’t wait to wear them when my loose skin goes away. They’ll look good on me, I think.
I’m very much looking forward to weighing less than 200 for the first time in 20+ years. I could reach 190 just as a result of skin loss during the surgery on June 9th. I’m very excited about that!
Counting the days!!!! It won’t be long now!!!
