I have been blogging at YellowBalloonPublications.com recently, so it’s time to put something here again for a change of pace.
BOOKCASE MAKEOVER
The top of my hand-me-down bookcase got water-damaged and looked like this three days ago…
This is how it looks now after the extreme makeover I gave it…
MOVED A FRIEND
Tuesday, Lisa and I and seven LDS missionaries moved Ben Taylor (who is a veteran of the Korean War) from Olympia to Lakewood. You can read about that here. It took ten hours and my Fitbit registered over 13K steps and 437 zone minutes
MOVED MY MINI GARDEN INDOORS TO KEEP IT SAFE FROM ARCTIC WEATHER
The hyacinths are filling the room with a GLORIOUS scent!!!
DRIVER’S SEAT SLIDER THINGY QUIT WORKING
The automatic seat slider thingamajig stopped sliding the seat backward, so I have to get that fixed. I has Lisa drive my van on Monday and she slid the seat up to fit her better, and now it’s stuck there. Actually, it’s stuck even a little bit closer than she put it because I after I tried sliding it back and it didn’t go, I tried sliding it forward to see if it would move forward, and it DID. So now my knees touch the underpart of the dashboard when I drive it and my belly is almost against the wheel. NOT a good thing. If I get in an accident now the air bag would probably suffocate me!
I called my usual auto repair guy, Jerry at Dodd’s Automotive in Tacoma, who suggested that I drive it somewhere closer than he is, as he said it might be just a really simple, quick fix.
So, I did that, but it doesn’t appear to be a really simple, quick fix and the fellow said it will cost between $100 to $350 just to diagnose the problem. (I will identify this auto repair shop on Canyon Road if it turns out that they are shooting straight and the repair really does cost what they said it would. I won’t name them if they tried to screw me. I only name good places, not bad ones.)
So, I thanked the gentleman and called Jerry at Dodd’s back, spooked. I told him what the other guy said and also told him that I trusted him (Dodd’s) more to give me an honest evaluation and that if I have to pay that kind of money, I’d rather pay it to Dodd’s because I know they shoot straight and I want to stick with them for expensive repairs. So, he has me down for next Wednesday, the soonest he can get me in. Jackie will pick me up and bring me home while Dodd’s checks things out…
