Two More Saturdays I’ll be FREE for 2-3 Months

February 15, 2025

WOO HOO! In two more Saturdays I’ll be free of garage sales for two to three months. So what that means is that I only have to survive six more hours (noon to 3 pm) before I can be free again.  (I’m not overtly antisocial: I’m just soooooooo done with garage sales for a while!!! Nine weekends straight of them has been a real challenge!)

If it isn’t too cold in the garage this morning (fat chance of that!), I’ll put all of the displayed vintage dinnerware into plastic bins again to free up space to display other items.  Then I’ll spend the next few days calling local antique stores to see if they’ll give me something for the dinnerware.  I’ll take almost anything now, just to have it go bye bye. People admire it but say they won’t get it because it’s gold-rimmed and not dishwasher safe.  But since it’s only used during special occasions, I don’t see why hand washing it should be such a big deal (since I hand wash all of usual dinnerware now), but okay.

I think I may offer grab bags of miscellaneous ” Trek/De” items for $50 each, plus shipping, to see if I can find homes for most of these items.  I don’t want to have to list and photograph all of it, and people like receiving surprises as long as they know that what they’ll get will be well worth the price. So, that’s another idea I’ve hatched. Not sure how well it will work, but I’ll give it a try!  Or maybe I can say, “Choose two of the things you see in these images and I’ll include additional surprises for $50 plus shipping.”  That might work even better!

If I can find new homes for the Trek/Kelley stuff before June or shortly after, I can move to CR sooner. Those are the only remaining things that need to go (there is a LOT of it!) before I can go, so I’m eager to see them off to new homes.

The sooner, the better!  I’m chomping at the bit to get the hell out of here.  Why wait any longer if I can free myself up sooner? Except for the June 11th King’s Books event, of course! I’ll stay here that long, for sure, unless by some miracle all of the copies of my books sell before then. And there is zero chance of that happening; garage sale folks are rarely readers. I think I’ve sold five books in eight weekends of garage sales, if that…

I want to be FREE to FLY AWAY again — my human adventure continues!!

Beam me up, Scotty!

Update: I made a grand total of ten dollars at the last garage sale.  Just had one visitor (a repeat visitor) and gave him a bunch of stuff for $10.  The items came to me free, so I’m still ahead!  I stayed indoors and had a sign on my garage door, so I was able to stay busy doing other stuff until he called me, and he oly stayed about five minutes.
