Tuesday Catch Up

October 6, 2026

This is a catch up post for Tuesday October 6, 2026.

This is the month

…that I should be getting a decision/resolution regarding my temporary pensionado resident status here in Costa Rica.  The website says my application is under review. I’m keeping a close eye on it, as it (and perhaps an email) will let me know what the decision is, in case I need to jump through any other hoops to gain residency here.  Don’t think I do, but ya just never know! If I do, I’ll have ten days to respond in order to get a six month span of time to resolve it; if I don’t respond in that time, I would have to start the process all over from scratch and get the apostilled docs again, which would be hard to do from here. So, I’m super alert!

Cindy and I Will Be

…making a Maxi Pali run sometime this week. I will be getting ground beef and personal pizzas at CoopeVictoria on the way back from Grecia that day.

Fun Dreams

Have had some fantastically fun dreams the past few nights.  I woke myself laughing during one of them.  That one was about being at Warner Bros. still and finding myself in the middle of a movie set trying to act scared while a tiger licked my neck, cuddled with me and chuffed lovingly, tickling me and making me want to laugh instead of acting “mauled.”

Another one:  I was on a rope bridge (like several tourist attractions here in Costa Rica) but it didn’t have any sides — no rope handles or “guardrails” — so I was slithering along it like a gecko on my stomach. It was just wide enough for me, and from the other end another “gecko hiker” was approaching me.  We got into a kind of silly “rock and roll the bridge” game and came very close to throwing both of us into the abyss below. But the abyss was only about 12 feet down and there were only a couple of boulders beneath me, so I was making sure to get past them before we threw each other overboard. That, too, was all part of a “movie set” scene, so neither of us were in any mortal danger. We were just pretending to be.

Another one: I was doing a scene that was supposed to be a live action weather report by a reporter in a big storm.  Someone sprayed water onto my glasses and shirt, and they turned the wind machines on, and I got silly and started singing off the cuff, “Forget your troubles, come on, get happy…”  (the old song)  “Wash your sins away in the tide.” And then I ad-libbed,  “Hell!  You’re already soaked to the bone. Might as well!”

Those are the three I still remember vividly.

There was another one about driving a car that lost its brakes. I was like Fred Flintstone, trying to stop its forward progress using my feet through the floor before it got to an intersection.  I didn’t stop it in time for that, but we got through the intersection without incident and I managed to bring the car to a halt just before it hit a very solid embankment about 150 feet farther on.

Charli Cuddles

I wish I had my phone handy last night.  Charli was soooo cuddlesome. She slept right against my neck and shoulders like a miniature “spooner”.

She usually sleeps near/close to/atop me on the bedspread, but last night she wanted to be in skin-to-skin contact under the blanket, right under my chin next to my neck and upper torso.

She stayed there most of the night, even though I got up a couple times to use the bathroom. Stayed in place until I came back and resumed the position, softly purring each time.

It was precious.

She always joins me on the throne in the morning

The minute I sit, she gets right beside the commode and prepares to jump onto my lap, so I have to quickly get a thick towel to “wear” so she doesn’t shred me when she lands.

Then she rubs, cuddles, purrs, head butts and goes into paroxysms of joy while I massage her head, neck, shoulders and back.  This ritual takes at least two minutes.

Then she jumps down and heads to the kitchen, where she sits awaiting her morning “fix”: a creamy treat.  She is so addicted to those treats that all too frequently now she’ll try to bite my bare leg to get another one, the little stinker.

But the instructions say only two a day and I simply can’t afford any more than that anyway!  They are expensive as hell! Over $2 USD for perhaps three tablespoons (total) of treat for just two servings (one morning, one in the evening). Insane!

I have to cut back on them but am afraid she’ll take my leg off if I try!  (If you want to help support her habit, please leave a tip below!!  I would appreciate it beyond words! Save my legs! LOL!)

MY MOOD IS UPBEAT

As you can tell, I’m in a very good mood these days. Have always been here in Costa Rica, but I seem to be getting happier as the days pass. Without a doubt, this has partly to do with what looks to be an upcoming blue tsunami in the US in just under a month. That certainly helps.

I remember when the world didn’t have to wake up every morning dreading what the then-leader-of-the-free-world might do (or might have done overnight) to endanger us all.

I remember when day-to-day federal government activities were boring news.  I remember when the federal government actually listened to the people they were sent to represent.

Those were the days.

And then along came 2016 and 2024

We can make it happen again.  We have to. Or we’re all screwed.
