It has been hotter here in Tacoma than it has been in Grecia and San Ramon, Costa Rica, so I’ve been trying out various cooling options.
Earlier I mentioned the neck fan and a cooling hat. Both worked well…

This morning during my walk, I tried the third and final option for staying cool outdoors:
I wore the shoulder flaps of this “Arabian Sheik”-like option under my t-shirt.

(Konrad Eibl in Germany calls it my Gandalf cowl! I prefer that!)
And Kansas Jones responded to the image this way:
“You shall not pass!”
My friends are on a roll and making me feel SOOOO powerful now!
What you do is wet the cowl, wring it slightly, shake it several times, and put it on.
And, oh my Lord, it gives you chills when you do that. And the coolness lasted well beyond my 40-minute walk.
The product description says the effect lasts from two to six hours before it needs to be refreshed with the water-and-shake treatment, but just flapping it while it’s still damp cools it down, so I can well imagine that it could last half a day (6 hours of daylight) in Costa Rica, which is plenty.
Transition Lenses are FABULOUS!
On another note, I got my eyeglasses back with the new prescription in them on Wednesday afternoon.
This time I opted for Transition lenses (the brown option) and I am over the moon with how well they work. And because the plastic lenses are brand new, there are no scratches or blemishes in them and they are absolutely marvelous to gaze through. Win/win. I’m glad I got them now. I won’t need to use clip-on sunglasses except for a back-up pair if I ever end up using older eyeglasses while new ones are being made. WOO HOO!

This is what happens as soon as I step into broad daylight!
(Gads, I’m dehydrated!!!!)
That image shows it.
Drinking water now!
