Today I’m Dissing Disinformation and Praising Disillusionment

July 31, 2021

The immediate past occupant of the White House  maintains he doesn’t lie; he “disinforms.”

You may want to look up the term “disinformation”, unless you want to maintain the illusion that he’s always given you facts.

No, wait.  I’ll do it for you, since research may not be your thing.

(If you’re still a Trump supporter even after the insurrection he fomented for months and “commanded” on January 6th, according to the very rioters who insisted to U.S. Capitol police “President Trump sent us!”, research is definitely not your thing, nor is watching the investigation into that day, a day which will live in infamy.)

Disinformation defined:

“False information which is intended to mislead, especially propaganda issued by a government organization to a rival power or the media.”

And here are a couple more articles on the topic:

CULTS KILL

Trump’s disinformation has created a nation as torn and as churning with bitterness as the one preceding the Civil War.

Why?

Because his followers truly believe the claptrap he has been feeding them.

Is it because they want to believe him, or because they’re as depraved (racist, sexist, misogynist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, white supremacist, white nationalist) as he is, and feel kinship to him? Is it because they’re in thrall to him in the same way Jim Jones’ followers were, or the Heaven’s Gate followers?

I suppose there are plenty of both.  Whatever the reason, the man and his followers are about as respect-worthy as a mountain-sized pile of feces.  We might respect the creature’s ability to pass something that foul and that big, but that’s just about it.

Now I want to praise disinformation’s  opponent: Disillusionment/Disenchantment

Disillusionment/Disenchantment Defined

Disillusionment: a feeling of disappointment resulting from the discovery that something is not as good as one believed it to be.

Disenchantment: a feeling of disappointment about someone or something you previously respected or admired.

The meanings listed in the dictionary for “enchantment” are these

  • a feeling of great pleasure; delight: “the enchantment of the mountains”
  • 2.the state of being under a spell; magic. (Witchcraft, e.g.)

I think Trump’s remaining supporters fit the second description.  Trump is a true dark wizard, an enchanter, given his ability to pull the wool over people’s eyes, and to enlist them in taking on his most depraved agendas. He’s Jim Jones-like in that regard. How can I claim this? Because people have died in far greater numbers than happened at Jonestown because they believed his disinformation about COVID-19 and its vaccination despite medical and scientific evidence to the contrary. Many have gone to their graves saying they couldn’t possibly be dying of COVID because COVID is a hoax.

Trump himself is vaccinated, as are all of the liars at Fox News.  Trump knew early in 2020 that COVID was dangerous. They know they’re distributing disinformation. They’re not naive; they’re fucking depraved. They’re textbook examples of sociopaths.  (You can take a test at the end of the link to find out if you’re a sociopath.)

Hitler’s Disinformation/Propaganda Campaign Imperiled the World — and Inspires Despots to this Day

One of Trump’s ex-wives says Trump kept a copy of Hitler’s speeches at their bedside. As far as I can tell, it may be the only book he ever read. He certainly hasn’t read the Bible, or even the US Constitution, although he wraps his arms around the flag like some staggering white nationalist at a July 4th barbecue.

He loves dictators, tyrants and despots because he is a wannabe dictator/tyrant/despot.

The sooner his supporters get disillusioned/disenchanted by this depraved lunatic, the better, as far as I’m concerned.
