This move to Costa Rica is getting real.
We’re ten days away.
Charli is prepped and papered.
Colleagues are making last-minute plans to see me for what may well be the last time.
I’m getting a prescription for gabapentin
…so I can dose Charli the night before and just before we drive to the airport so she can sleep through the vast majority of the upheaval of getting us between here and pura vida.
Her vet, Dr. Byrd, says that even if she awakens totally while we’re pre- or mid-flight on the second/last leg of the journey, the drug will keep her feeling secure and snoozy in the carrier that she is now very comfortable being in. And by administering a dose of gabapentin the night before and again as we leave for the airport, it will remove any frets she has about car travel, which is her one remaining bugaboo.
Essentially, I will be traveling with a sleeping cat
This will make it easier on her than on me! Hurray!
I just wish there were a way to make myself as comfortable as she will be!
Ahhh! I just remembered: There is!
I’ve ordered Bach’s Rescue Remedy lozenges for myself. They’ll be here this week.
We’re saved! LOL!
I’m beyond excited that we’re this close to taking off. My primary remaining nervousness was about Charli, but now that I know she’ll be fine, I’m not even fretting over the extended duration of the journey.
I cancelled CenturyLink as of three days after I’m gone.
My phone is unlocked.
It’s all coming together.
Let’s get this show on the road!
