The Goats’ New Home

June 22, 2025

I will take Mr. Tumnus and Tillie, the goats, to their new home in about 45 minutes.

Don’t worry: I will take pictures after I get them over there, so you can see their new digs.

Except for (maybe) missing me, they will probably think they’ve died and gone to heaven!

Their available wandering space is almost 3 acres; fully one third of it is coyote-proof, which is where they’ll be kept whenever the new owner can’t be outside to watch over them and her other farmyard animals with roaming privileges.

There’s also a smaller 32′ x 32′ enclosed space, which is where they’ll be held temporarily until she erects a fence to keep them away from her trees (the new owner has the materials already, so it will only be days). It has a cozy shed, plus their two calf sheds from here are within that space with all their familiar stuff: water barrel, feed trays, etc. They’ll recognize their stuff right away, which will help them settle in well and fast. I don’t anticipate any separation anxiety issues — except here at my end!  (I’ve had goats for 15 years, so it’s going to feel empty here for a while! I hope there are goats within walking distance of where I establish my home in Costa Rica!)
