My Spanish lesson continue. I’m up to page 102 in 1001 Pitfalls in Spanish which, for me, is more than halfway to the end because I won’t spend much time on numbers, dates, pronunciation, or measurements since I have most of those (except measurements) already committed to memory. These days I’m just looking for stuff that I don’t already know very well. I’m feeling more confident by the day. After four books about Spanish (with two more waiting in the wings!), I’d BETTER be, huh?! My brain isn’t the sponge it used to be, but at least it isn’t a sieve. I AM learning stuff and retaining a helluva lot of it. Hurray! I love the Spanish language.
Poor Mao has a serious medical condition
Mao (Deb’s tuxedo cat) has to be delivered to a pet hospital in Alajuela asap. She needs tests that neither Planet Exo nor Moralva can do. Moralva suggested a veterinarian hospital in Alajuela, so Deb is going to drive her there sometime today. (She may have left with her already.)
Mao was sent home with Deb last night following her appointment at Planet Exo, but subsequently the bloodwork that was done there revealed a potentially serious kidney problem, including an infection, so she needs IV liquids and other treatment asap. Deb needed to call and confirm with the Alajuela hospital that there is someone on duty today who can see and treat her.
It’s an urgent matter, so I’m agonizing for both Deb and Mao. I know how I’d be feeling if it was Charli who needed urgent care! I’d want her in yesterday!
We have a new water heater
The one here hasn’t been working well for quite some time, so Deb had a technician come in and replace it. We have reliable hot water again. I plan to take advantage of it before bedtime!
Windstorm
We’ve been having quite a windstorm for 24 hours, off and on. A huge branch that was severed by the tree-limbing work crew weeks ago (but not removed because it was so badly hung up on lower branches) came down last night onto the driveway, so when I spotted it this morning, I dragged it into the existing organic wood pile and then went after the palm fronds that have blown down over the course of the past several days, too. As a happy result, I had 1000+ steps in before I even headed out for my daily walk this morning.
And since then I’ve washed off the back patio, too, so I have 8719 steps in so far today (1:45 p.m.). I didn’t take seven laps around the soccer field today because I knew I’d reach the 7500 steps goal easily, since I had such a good head start.
Lazy Day Otherwise
Charli has been vegging between my feet most of the day because I’ve been sitting here taking notes from the Spanish lessons. But I think I’m finished with that for the rest of the day, so we may end up out on the back patio pretty soon instead. Just thought I ought to log on here, check the mail, and update this blog before I do anything more. Gotta keep up with my “chores,” ya know!
