Smiling Like the Cheshire Cat!

August 5, 2014

I got the rest of the editing gig for the children’s book. There will be 25 chapters. I’m getting $250 to edit five of them at a time. WOO HOO!

Today at noon I had an eye exam so I can get new glasses. The ones I usually wear are about to drop off my face after six years because I got knocked off a bike (it’s a klutzy story–‘nuf said!) and bent the frame  several months ago. Ever since then, I’ve been cussing at them. And one of the screws that holds them together keeps coming loose, so one of the lenses falls out semi-regularly. It’s time! (Ya think?)   It will take about two weeks to get them…

I went to Orting this afternoon for one of my at-least-thrice-weekly 15-miles bike rides.  Today I put two flyers on my windshield when I left for the ride; when I got back, just one of the brochures remained. With my branded SUV, I thought I might as well make it easy for people to get information without me being right there to give it to them. It’s working!  At some point I hope to learn who it was that took the brochure!

My sis Jackie is on vacation for two weeks soon and she says she’s going to ride bikes with me while she’s free to do so. We’ll see how that goes. I don’t have immense hopes that she’ll do it as often as I do, because I don’t think she enjoys it as much. (I wouldn’t do it as much if I didn’t enjoy it, either.)

Biking gets my endorphins going. It sets me up for a positive, pro-active, full-speed-ahead kind of day. It’s a natural high for me, not an “exercise” or a “chore”. (My advice: Find an exercise you love so you want to do it a lot!) I’m slowly losing weight, too, which is terrific, but I’m not doing it to lose weight. I’m just doing it to feel great and make sure I’m working on all thrusters.
