Saturday Stuff, including just a wee bit of catch up that I didn’t include in earlier posts because I wanted to stay on topic.
On Thursday July 16 I wrote:
Jon, Francisco and my neighbors down the hill will be flying back from France tomorrow, so I’ll be juggling walks at least two days a week on the days that the returnee wants to walk.
If she and I go at 6 a.m. I can meet Cindy with her dogs at 7 a.m. and walk with her, too, on those days. I just have to remember to take a thermos of water when I do both walks on the same days.
Wednesday mornings are reserved for my trips to Subway, groceries and (0n occasion) bloodwork, except for July 29th when I’ll be helping the vet with Cindy’s dogs again at her place.
Next month (maybe later this month)
…I’ll get another renal function test and urinalysis at the same time I go in for my INR test. It’s time. I’ve been on the kidney pill for almost three full months, and Dr. Pacheco wants to see how it has been working for me.
Chatted with Lisa for 52 minutes this evening
She is getting another gig that will help boost her income, and she’s working on a new project (for passive income), so she’s moving right along.
She still plans to come see me next February again. YAY!
Have been working on more of Sonia’s children’s stories
… (editing them). Enjoying this anthology project enormously! She has quite the imagination!
Dead-headed the geraniums.
Watered the new plant.
Ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and drank a half cup of peach nectar.
I Would Love to See Other Parts of Upland Costa Rica
….Cartago, Curridabat, etc. where rent is cheaper, in case the exchange rate remains anemic. Not that I want to upend Charli again (or myself!), but it would be nice to develop at least a handshake knowledge of other places and amenities.
I DO love it here in San Isidro de Grecia/Alajuela, though. I’m comfortable and very happy here. Good friends, know my way around, close by a bus route into Grecia and beyond. It’s ALL good!
I’m gonna ask Jon
…if writing a letter to Immigration and underscoring my age might expedite the application process. Being without health care coverage for major medical (without having to return to the States and using Medicare) is NOT my idea of a prudent health plan and the sooner I can get out of Medicare Part B ($265/month) the better for my budget. I’ll pay less than half that for CAJA and have no deductibles or copays…
I think my neighbors wrote a letter like that
…and they were approved about four months after writing it. If I send a request soon, I might get approved by September (my one year anniversary here). And then I could get my DIMEX card and get free bus rides, too… so my budget would be VERY happy if all this could happen sooner rather than later.
Yesterday Cindy and I drove to Isla Vet in Santa Gertrudis
…to get Harper her last puppy shot and the four prescriptions we need for Ivy (her dog) and Charli (my cat). As it turned out, the vet didn’t have two of the medications that were prescribed, so we ended up taking a trip into Grecia, with Harper riding along. (What a good puppy! She sat in my lap the whole time without becoming overly puppy-fied.)
On the way down the hill, we stopped briefly at the pet store where Cindy gets her pet food locally. They had creamy cat treats there, which I knew Charli would be needing to get her pills down her, so I got two packages of those. Cindy got some puppy food.
Then we went down to Memo’s, where we were able to get the other two prescriptions.
We were going to get Church’s chicken to bring home for lunch, but the stand wasn’t open yet, and neither was the buffet at Coope Victoria, so we opted for a few groceries at Super San Isidro. I got some bread, cookies and bananas there. Then Cindy drove me home before returning home herself.
Which Brings Me to Today and Saturday Stuff
This morning at 7 a.m. Cindy and I walked Lucy, Ivy and Oreo. On Monday, we plan to visit Maxi Pali for a few groceries sometime during the morning hours. I want to get a big jar of peanut butter if they have it.
My LIQUID savings are close to $3800 now
…so I’m very jazzed. (Up from $2500 in February) (And my one-year CD has earned $88 in the two months I’ve had it.)
I have been able to put almost 50% of the editing money into savings, which is HUGE. My credit card now has a very low balance which will disappear on August 1st, so I’m ecstatic!
The weather here today is 68 degrees. Chilly. Breezy and overcast with thunder in the distance, so I expect some WET later on today.
That’s all for this time!
