My adopted hometown, San Isidro de Grecia, gets lit this weekend! So, I plan to walk down to the futbol field and celebrate its founding with my vecinos/neighbors tomorrow!
My neighbor Ed Fagan let me know about it this morning while I was on the bus heading for Grecia to do some shopping. (Ran out of olive oil and wanted to get a couple other things, too, including camarones if I could find any.) (My entire shopping list gets written in Spanish these days so from now on you may need a Spanish dictionary to follow along! LOL! I’m so used to saying aguacate now that I frequently forget the English term, avocado!)
I did find everything I went after in Grecia
Pali didn’t have camarones but a market right next to Mundo Magico (Supermercado) did, so I bought a frozen package of it there.
I ate at Subway while in town, too, even though their oven wasn’t working. I probably should have grabbed the opportunity to get pizza across the park from there, but it was awfully early for pizza (8:30) so I stayed put.
I was on the bus at 9:20, headed back home here
…and by the time it reached the futbol field in San Isidro de Grecia, the set up for the event was well underway. There were bouncy houses, large topiary-type potted plants, and other things that screamed, “COME HAVE FUN!”
So, I plan to do that tomorrow morning.
Ed says they will have a carnival of sorts
… with kids’ rides, food, music/dancing, and they usually have an antique car show as well.
They also usually have a horse tope’ and a police dog display. He says I will probably hear the event kick off from my place six hundred meters north of the event, as there will be a parade with lots of enthusiasm, noise, car and truck horns, and a great many happy kids during those initial moments.
I’m looking forward to it
And yes, I will take pictures and videos so you can enjoy it vicariously! Don’t know when I’ll get down there, but probably sometime between eight and nine… maybe sooner if I decide to find a place to sit and enjoy the parade. I think it kicks off at eight, so I may walk down at 7:30.
Stay tuned!
