This morning I took two hours to clean out my side of the garage, readying it for my first “estate”-like garage sale. It feels like a barn in there now. All the miscellaneous stacked stuff got put back where it actually belongs, freeing up my half to display what I will be offering up during future garage sales. As soon as I get the first one set up, I will take photos so you can get a preview of what’s available, including some antique china and other treasures from my late aunt.
Yesterday I spent four hours indoors gathering items for the sale — stuff I can let go of right away without crippling my ability to reside here until I move sometime next year. So, this means my “fun” stuff mostly, stuff that would make darned good gifts for people who will be shopping for their loved ones after Thanksgiving. If I can get everything set up to my satisfaction, I will have the first garage sale shortly after Thanksgiving. During this one, I can also let shoppers know which pieces of furniture will be available (or are available now, just not in the garage!) so they can see if any of it floats their boat.
It’s exciting to be making this happen. The move to Costa Rica feels more REAL the more I proactively arrange for it to happen. I’m pacing myself because if I don’t I will be living out of a suitcase long before I ever hop on a plane!
I need to find out if anyone wants my lifetime of journals (since age 16). If no family member does, maybe someone else will — even a library that has an interest in individual life experiences (like finding a fly caught in amber). My journals are the only “legacy” pieces that have me stumped…
I will probably have an exclusive TREK/Kelley Garage Sale, too.
Heck, I could have an exclusive “critter stuff” garage sale, too: pictures, carriers, water bottles, calf/goat milk bottles. If I advertised them as exclusive, they would attract only those who are passionate about these topics, and that would be wonderful!
I have ideas!
