This morning during my walk (7706 steps) I met up with Luz and Noelia again during their trek up Calle Esteban Salas to Calle Los Angeles and then back to their place.
At the end of their walk, Luz reached into a bush by the road and pulled out a beautiful poinsettia from one of her bushes. The gardener had cut it down this morning and she wanted me to have it.
I lit up like a Christmas tree and then thanked her effusively (after I found my tongue and fashioned the words in Spanish). I embraced her. She is such a lovely soul!
Her kindness really made my day.

I carried it home immediately before completing my walking routine to put it into a bottle of water and then wrapped the bottle in aluminum foil to give it the holiday touch. I totally love it, and placed it out of Charli’s reach because I know poinsettias are toxic to cats. Not that I think she’ll touch it, but I don’t want to take any chances!
Saw Homer Today Too
I spotted Homer again this morning, too. Said Feliz Navidad and gave him a hug. He is a dear, dear man.
Dyed My Hair Again Today

I’m gonna get this color again. My scalp didn’t react to it (no itching or other sensation ) and it’s closer to my original hair color. The last color was a wee bit redder/brighter. It was OK, but not quite right.
This color looks totally natural, given my skin tone. Glad to have found it. Took a picture of the box so I can get it again next time I get into town.
Groceries Were Delivered Yesterday, and I Walked 8K+ Steps in the Rain
First thing yesterday morning, I walked even though it was raining. Took my umbrella along and used it, so the raindrops were music to my ears. I love the sound of rain.
Groceries were delivered at around nine. Most of it was cat food. I did get some Gatorade and cauliflower, plus some seasoning for fish, poultry and veggies. Oh, and some Neapolitan ice cream, my one guilty pleasure…
Bugs
The change of season has brought additional species of bugs. The most often seen ones (not terribly often, but at least once daily right now) fly, but when they land, they look like small beetles. I’ll try to get some pictures of them.
They have interesting patterns and colors. Some are muted to blend in with the foliage, tree trunks or fallen tree/frond debris, while others are bright and festive-looking, I suppose to blend in with flowers they may feast on. (They get eaten by birds, so they have developed camouflage to escape detection.)
Butterflies and Hummingbirds
There are more butterflies and hummingbirds, too. And new species of birds that only summer here in Costa Rica. I’ll try to get some decent images and/or videos of them. But to do that, I’ll probably have to shut Charli into the house. She’s my little shadow — likes to accompany me outside — which is not conducive to up close and personal bird-watching. The birds don’t fancy having a cat nearby, even though she shows zero interest in them.
What else?
I may have lunch on Wednesday with Lynda Rice’s lunch bunch near the feria entrance if I don’t get tapped to go look at the place in San Isidro that day. This week’s agenda is in flux. Friday is the only locked in day so far. The rest of the week is flexible…
Guess that’s all I can think of for now. Enjoy the rest of your day!
