Duck Swimming and Diving (will take a moment to load, but worth the wait)
Had a wonderful time house and pet-sitting on Enchanted Island in Spanaway Lake this past weekend. Penny Howard (a friend of mine since childhood) went to the San Juan Islands for her daughter Amanda’s wedding, so I stayed at her place to watch Buster and the place while she was gone. Her mom, Mary Jane Cooper, age 91, lives just two houses over, and she couldn’t attend the wedding, so Amanda made it possible for her to see it virtually (live streamed the event) from Penny’s place. It was a beautiful wedding.
Mary Jane Cooper was my baseball coach when I was seven or eight or nine and I get together with her a few times a month to visit and have lunch with her. Last weekend I got to spend additional time with her and her dog Precious, always a treat. We took both dogs to the dog park one day. We ate lunch several times. All in all, I had a wonderful weekend (four nights, actually, starting last Thursday through Sunday) sitting on a beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings visiting with a beautiful soul. It just doesn’t get much better than this!
When Penny asked me what I owed her, I said, “Are you kidding?! I got to spend four nights on Spanaway Lake with your dog and your mom! NO CHARGE! The pleasure was all mine!”
But when I got back from a meeting this morning there was a $50 Visa gift card tucked into my door frame. I called. They said it was from Buster.
Great dog, Buster. I didn’t know he was loaded (other than with what he was usually loaded with morning and night).
What a great family! I love ’em.
