What an amazing relief to have the garage sales behind me.
Today I took all remaining garage sale items to two different thrift shops. All but two items were accepted. I’m footloose and fancy free now. I can concentrate on the remaining tasks (getting prescription refills and getting written scripts to show in CR; unblock phone; have Charli examined and cleared for the move; get cash in advance; cancel CenturyLink, etc.) without having any more of those time-consuming tasks hanging over my head. Six were enough!!!
I’m giving the antique dresser to a friend, and someone on Marketplace is interested in Dad’s credenza. Hurray!
I’m in almost daily contact now with my Costa Rica compatriots — my immigration coach, the translator, my escort, a real estate maven who takes great care of her clients, no matter their budgets, and the owner/manager of Villas Escondidas. The San Jose appointments have been made, and I will be able to get a SIM card and CR phone number pretty soon after I arrive –possibly the same day or the day after.
My San Jose escort has also agreed to escort me to Grecia on Wednesday the 10th to make the BCR deposits that are required, and I may get a cheap air conditioner that day, too, if the humidity in Grecia makes the temperature feel too onerous to me. Laurie says she has a dehumidifier for the room I’ll be renting, so that will help, too. It may even be enough so that I won’t need an air conditioner. That would be nice because the more expensive ones start at around $500 and the cheap ones don’t cool a very large area. And I won’t know what size to get until I land a rental, anyway — which may already have A/C. So I have to try not to put the cart before the horse, without croaking in the meantime!
None of this is stressing me out unduly, because I will have very good people helping me transition into place from day one. That’s because I’m making the arrangements in advance. I won’t be flying solo by the seat of my pants upon arrival. It feels tranquilo, the way things have come together.
I can get the translated docs soon after I arrive, too, hopefully by Friday.
It’s all good!
Now I can concentrate, too, on seeing friends for the last (or the last few) times, too. Yesterday Chris Bailey and I had lunch at Shari’s on Canyon Road. We visited for a good two and a half hours. It was a blast. I want to show him how to play Mexican Trains before I fly away. It’s a hoot.
I want to kayak with Judi and Jessie again.
I want to have lunch with Cathy and Derrick Clark.
I need to get my will finalized and squared away with Laurel. (It’s almost done.)
What else?
Who knows? All I know for sure is the remaining time will fly by now.
And I’m beyond ready and eager to fly away!
