WOO HOO! I’ll be attending the NO KINGS RALLY in San Jose, Costa Rica tomorrow afternoon.
I’ll catch the van from here in San Isidro at 11:30 down by the soccer field.
Really looking forward to it. I never missed one when I was in the States, and now I won’t be missing the one here this time. Happy Dance!
(Turns out that protesting U.S. policies here at the U.S. Embassy is legal. I just can’t protest Costa Rican policies unless and until I become a citizen, which is at least seven years away. And I may not even live that long so it isn’t even on my Bingo card yet!!)
I’m preparing
The high temperature in San Jose, Costa Rica tomorrow will be 78 degrees F., the forecast says, so I’ll take an umbrella and a frozen hat that I can keep wet and cool to wear on my head if need be. I’ll wear shorts and a t-shirt that I can wet down to stay cool and I’ll have on a lot of sunscreen, with extra on the side so I can apply more every couple hours. I’ll have extra water along, too, so I can hydrate not just myself, but others who may not come as well prepared.
For lunch, I’ll take along a couple of peanut butter and jelly or honey sandwiches, some soda crackers and some mixed nuts, too. And I will have all of this nut stuff sequestered in a plastic bag in case anyone in the van has nut allergies.
I WILL GET TO SEE DIANE COONER AGAIN!
I’m super excited because I will get to see Diane Cooner, my El Cajon next door neighbor, again. I have missed her like crazy.
And — with any luck at all — a number of individuals from my Rainbow Refuge family will be there, too. They’ve attended other NO KINGS rallies in the past.
Plus, I’ll get to meet other local area activists who are going to be riding along in the van to attend the rally.
And yes, I will take pictures galore to share with you. Don’t worry!

In Other News:
I’ve walked 9,107 steps today so far. Took a shower when I got back from the soccer field and then sat with Charli on the back porch for an hour or so this morning. She wanted to be outside, but Mao (Deb’s cat) was out, too, and I didn’t want them getting into a brouhaha, so I stayed out with her to “chaperone”. Almost fell asleep doing it, though, because it was so calm, cool and pleasant out there.
The tree trimmers came yesterday and raised a racket, as did the yard care attendants, so this place looks like a 5 star establishment inside and out again. I can’t get over how lucky I was to be told about this option. (Thank you again, Melaney Phillips!) I’m deleriousy happy here, and I think Deb feels good about having me here, too. so I hope to be here for a very long time!
Been Enjoying My Crockpot Meals Today
Yesterday I made a crockpot meal that turned out very well, so I froze some and kept about two thirds of it in the fridge so I could eat it this morning, this afternoon and tomorrow morning before I head for the NO KINGS rally.
It has chicken, bacon, potatoes, tomatoes and a soup mix in it. To prepare a meal of it, I put it on top of cooked brown rice, add in black bean molida, some cheddar cheese, and a touch of Lizano sauce and heat it in the microwave for five or six minutes.
It’s delicious, filling, and pretty darned healthy/nutritious. I add a little salt to boost the flavors since I didn’t put any into the crockpot. I will make it again.
Reckon that’s all the news to report at this time. I’ll have a NO KINGS RALLY REPORT the next time you hear from me, “God willing and the creeks don’t wise!”
Oh! But before I sign off, I have an update.
My Dog Bite is Almost Gone
It looks almost like a butterfly now! But the scab will disappear in the next week or so. I expect the whole incident will fade into memory after that!
My “superficial” dog bite (now, now, Jon and Francisco!!! I’m just pulling your leg!) can be retired from this day forward, hallelujah!!!!
