New Kid on the Block and More

December 1, 2025

Here are a few images of the new kid on the block.

I don’t know what breed he is, but he is absolutely beautiful — caramel colored!

He’s a bit skittish right now. I imagine the transportation process was traumatic for him, but I was able to scratch his nose briefly before he withdrew again.

I love the cattle (ganado) here!

“THE SHEPHARDESS” IS IN FULL BLOOM NOW

The poinsettia bushes here blow me away, too. They grow in the wild here as tall bushes , so my neighbor Luz has three or four of them on her property.

Her family doesn’t need to decorate for Navidad — nature does it for them!  Her place looks magnificent.

What looks like a single tall poinsettia bush

on the right hand side of the walkway in the above image is actually two bushes,

one behind the other next to the neighbor’s home.

(There is a third one, too, but not in this image.)

This is just one close up of a single flowering branch:

From wikipedia: In Nicaragua and Costa Rica, the poinsettia became known as a shepherdess because during the Christmas season it was used as a decoration during the posadas.

TWO OUTINGS SCHEDULED THIS WEEK

I will be dog sitting for Jon and Francisco again one day this week. I’ll also be having lunch with them and with whoever else can come along on another day this week. I very much look forward to getting out and about a couple (or more) times a week for a little excursion of some sort.

Today’s excursion was the usual one: walking up and down Calle Esteban Salas multiple times for 9,376 steps (so far today). Luz and Noelia were out at the same time for a little while so I walked and chatted with them during the time they were out and about.

I also walked to the lower mini mart on Calle Los Angeles to get a few items. That’s why my step count is higher than usual today. I wanted to get something to heat up for lunch on the day I dog sit so I don’t have to go to the mini mart there and lock the dogs outside in their pen while I do that.  (Alice gets separation anxiety, so I don’t want to do that to her.)

What else?

The Christmas winds are keeping my wind chimes tinkling gently almost constantly right now.  I love it. Soooo relaxing!

NAVIDAD DOINGS AT GRECIA’S CENTRAL PARK

The Grecia park is all decked out in Navidad splendor, so I’d like to get pictures of that, but I won’t be going out at night to do it.  You can catch some of the nightime Grecia Navidad celebration highlights here:
