(Animals on t-shirt in Spanish, in order: guacamayo, perezoso, tortuga, mono.)

Yesterday when I tore down the old, wire chicken coop cover, I had a chance to try out my new neck-cooling fan and cooling hat. (The hat isn’t new: I’ve just never saturated it with water and used it as a cooling hat before.)
Jeepers creepers, they worked really well!
I shouldn’t have any trouble staying cool anywhere in Costa Rica, let alone where I plan to live!
Using both made me feel a wee bit chilly on an 80 degree day!

Here’s the enclosure I dismantled yesterday…
It took over two hours to get the 2 x 4s down and the chicken wire disconnected from them (working alone)…
quite the chore!

The entire back yard has been transformed by my recent doings. Looks darned nice out there.
I want to paint the hen shed, but other than that, I think it’s a done deal…

I got this particle board hen door at McLendons for just $5 !
They sold it to me as scrap lumber.
Heckuva deal!
Next chores:
Clean up used pet carriers and pet accessories for future garage sales… scrubbing required!
Visit Social Security Office to see what stage my official income document is at and to find out where to send it to have it apostilled. Get a date for its arrival to me so I can schedule the flight out and Charli’s vet exam and paperwork ten days before that.
Excited!
I’m working hard and sleeping great! Walking 8K plus steps daily, often 12K in a day’s time! Feeling great! Happy! Inspired! Ready to roll!
My immigration coach is giving me tasks piecemeal that I can fulfill (or partially fulfill) while I’m still here in the U.S., so that when I get down there all I will need to add is my new CR address and phone number and then visit the US Embassy and immigration office to present myself and give them my documents and payments. I hope to do both of those tasks within a month of arriving there.
Tumnus and Tillie Update
I visited Tumnus and Tillie for only the second time yesterday afternoon. I stayed away for six days hoping they’d settle in and forget about me. But when they heard/saw me arrive, they put up such a ruckus of welcome and excitement that I wish I had recorded it. I’ll try to remember to do that next time I go there. They apparently lost their minds when they heard me — which made me feel good (and a little bad). They miss me as much as I miss them, and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone! They’re right fond of me. (aw shucks…)
I get to look in on them daily (plus a blind duck, turkey chicks and hen chicks) when the new owner goes on vacation in July and August for five or six days each time. I will plan to spend at least a half hour every time I go over. I hope the goats grow accustomed to seeing me only semi-regularly, because I won’t be available in the flesh at all after September.
Maybe we can Facetime them from the new owner’s phone and see how that goes! I wonder if my voice alone would make them happy… better than nothing, maybe. Maybe not. We’ll see!
