My Passport Came This Week

July 27, 2023

My passport arrived this week, several weeks earlier than expected. I am officially authorized to become a world traveler now. WOO HOO!

My head is spinning. Where do I want to go?

First stop (for sure) in 2024 — New Zealand to spend two weeks with my kiwi friends Helen and Debbie. Lisa will be along, too.  Estimated month in 2024: March or April.

Second stop (depends) in ????  — Germany and/or Australia — if I can get a solid invitation from a convention there to speak about DeForest Kelley (all expenses paid).  I’m on a limited income and can’t galavant a whole lot unless some of it is subsidized.

I especially want to go to Germany because my grandparents on both sides of my family were from there, and I have several German friends that I long to meet (and vice versa) or see again (if I can reconnect with the ones I’ve met here in the US before: Karola Parche and Kerstin Dartsch, among them). But I’d also love to do a convention that Karl Urban will be at (he does German conventions, too!) and he does them quite frequently in Australia (where my friend Anne Richardson lives, see images below) , so that’s where I’m imagining it might happen.

Third stop in 2024 or 2025: Costa Rica! I want to check out Costa Rica because if I ever move from this location, I think it will be to Costa Rica (the Central Highlands, where it’s spring-like all year ’round). I want to visit there and make sure it’s where I want to end up if I do move from the U.S.

It’s all very exciting to think about.  I want to do some crusises, too — one of them back to Alaska! I went in 2004 and it was fabulous! Jesus, that was almost 20 years ago now. Un-freaking-believable!

In Other News…

1.)Lisa and I went biking again yesterday. We try to do that once a week, around her busy work schedule.

2.) Five nights of sleeping outdoors has improved my skin and hair. Not to mention the fact that I sleep like a baby.  Wish I could do this all year long. If I ever move to Costa Rica, I will be able to. ZOWIE!!!

3.) Hannah McCrane interviews Phil Weyland this weekend.  The interview will air on our final EVER NEW on August 5th.

4.) In a few weeks, I will be out sleeping under the stars at my niece’s place outside Rochester WA with her and her son (my grand nephew)so we can enjoy the Perseid meteor showers together.  She has a new telescope, so that will be cool to view through for other celestial bodies (the moon, planets, etc.)

5.) MOSAIC (formerly Ethnic Fest) will happen this weekend at Wright Park. I may well take that in.  It’s shady there, so it’s a pleasant location.

I didn’t attend Art on the Avenue this past weekend because it was too hot, the UV conditions were dangerously high for a paleface like me, and the venue was all on pavement, with nary a tree for shade in sight. But it had a great turnout, despite these challenges, and I was delighted to hear that because the organizers busted their butts to make it happen, and it was a roaring success. Congrats, Angela Jossy, vendors, and volunteers!

6.) What else? Oh!  I took pix of the pollywog pond yesterday. I need to put those in yesterday’s blog post and publish it.  I will do that right now.

ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR DAY!
