My tent is up for the duration now. Summer is coming. I just ordered a canopy to protect this investment from the elements. (I got the tent last year while it was on sale for just $109. The canopy cost more than the tent, but I wanted to get a GOOD one with excellent reviews.) It will be here on Sunday.
At the moment, I have a “standby tarp” to keep any rain off that might fall — but no rain is scheduled for well over a week, so I’m just being paranoid. No dew, even, if I can prevent it from settling on my tent.
It’s a six-person tent, ostensibly, but they’d all have to be willing to be mighty intimate to fit six adults in there! I slept in it last night, and it was the best sleep I’ve had since the last time I slept in it, last October. I plan to sleep in it all summer long and as far into autumn/fall as the weather and temperatures will allow.
I have an air mattress in there, with a weighted blanket covering it. Then I put down my sleeping bag (open, flat) and my usual blanket and bedspread (this year, because it’s still chilly at night). I have an anti-gravity recliner in there too, and an air horn and a hammer (for security purposes, although I have never been worried about that; my fearful, Fox-watching sister suggested it, so I did it to help her relax!), plus my phone, a light and a radio.
And Charli. Of course, Charli! She could hardly wait for me to put it up so she could go into it again!
As you know (if you’re a cat lover) cats love enclosures/tents/tipis/boxes!!!
This photo was taken last summer…
Charli in all her glory!
Patches is welcome to come out and stay, too, but she prefers warmer spots these days, as ancient as she is.
If she gets lonely enough, she’ll come out, and I’ll put her under my blanket and bedspread.
When I get the canopy and erect it, I’ll take another picture so you can see it all put together the way I envision it.
I can’t wait!
