Lazy, Walk-Less Day: Local Biting Dogs Beware!

March 14, 2026

I stayed put today. I won’t walk again until I have a spray bottle full of water with a little bleach mixed in, a sturdy stick or baton, and some heavy combat jeans to wear, so that if that feisty black and white biting dog is still out on the street, I can take its picture (while staying safe!), call 911 right on the spot, and report it to the authorities.

I have an APB out in Spanish and in English thanking the people who ran interference during the attack. I’m also hoping that one of them took a picture of the dog and reported it to the authorities so it was located and put down (which is required here in CR if a dog bites someone). If they see the APB and respond, I will know who they are and be able to thank them personally, and to hopefully get the dog picked up for disposal.

I love dogs, but I shudder to think what could happen to a shorter adult or to a small child who walks in this neighborhood! That dog needs to be off the street by any means legal and necessary!

I’ve already heard back from folks who live on this street, thanking me for the heads up and giving me their best tips for keeping biting dogs away. MOST of the loose dogs around here pose no threat, but they aren’t all that way, which I found out in spades yesterday.

It totally sucks that dog owners let their biting dogs run loose

This mutt looked well fed, not at all scrawny, but I don’t think it was wearing a collar of any kind. I would know it to see it again, but I don’t know its gender. (I was looking at its teeth — the business end — not its hind end during my encounter!)  If it’s feral, it has been able to find enough food to make itself look healthy and owned.

I Feel Fine Today

I have zero pain.  I wash the wound with soap and water twice a day and watch for infection or fever. No issues there. I take an antibiotic pill every twelve hours and will for six more days.

Just Finished My Note Taking of the Third Spanish Book

I feel soooo accomplished!  I’m loving my Spanish lessons!

There isn’t much news.  When I’m stuck here on the couch, how much can happen, after all?

I will get back to walking in the next day or so, I’ll have more to report.  Until then, ciao for now!
