The good news is that I’m up to Volume 20 in my journals preservation quest.
The bad news is that I found additional (fat!) volumes after I took yesterday’s picture of the scope of my project.
So, there are still a s**tload to be scanned and preserved. I’m going to do my best to do at least ten volumes per day.
And… I’m glad I’m doing it, because whenever I stop long enough at actually read a few pages, I find stuff in it that is very much worth preserving. That’s good because it keeps me intrigued and going. Otherwise, it would feel like too enormous a project to tackle…
WOW! I just looked a little bit at Vol. 16 and found a whole page early on in it about the race to run for President between Jimmy Carter, Burch Bayh, Schapp and Harris. They were all on MEET THE PRESS the day I wrote the entry, so I was opining on my two favorites: Bayh and Carter (alphabetically). I thought Bayh was more liberal, and was suspicious of Carter because racists in the South elected him to be Governor. (This was during the time that he silenced his liberal ideology publicly simply to get elected at all.) Talk about a timely discovery!
