I Just Won a Thumbtack Award!

Award

Well, THIS Thumbtack award came out of the blue!

Although I don’t live in New York, I write for New Yorkers and for other clients around the world.

Now I wonder where I rank here in my home state of Washington? Guess I’ll inquire at Thumbtack! (I sure hope the inquiry doesn’t get me kicked off the list for New York!)

This is quite the accolade…as I’m sure there are scores, if not hundreds, of capable freelance copywriters in New York. To be singled out without even entering a contest just makes this that much more gratifying…

Now I’m wondering which of my Thumbtack clients (and how many) live in New York!  I have a hundred and one questions as a result of getting this nod. What did I write, exactly, that made someone (or more than someone), or Thumbtack (unilaterally) decide I should be nominated for this accolade?  It’s all just such a mystery. A happy mystery, to be sure, but a mystery nonetheless!

Well, however it happened, thank you, Thumbtack, and thank you, clients, for the award!

I earned Premier Provider status at another freelance site within a year of being there, too. And I won Employee of the Quarter the last two quarters I worked as a fledgling copywriter in 2007 for an on-hold script-writing and production company.  So that’s three writing accolades in the eight years I’ve been a professional copywriter. It feels good. It gives me additional confidence.

It’s pretty easy to feel confident when I look at my local area competitors; not as easy when I realize I’m competing with every other copywriter on the planet as a virtual copywriter.  But one of my power partners assures me I’m “world class” and this most recent award helps underscore the assertion, all of which helps me breathe easier…

Is any Creative ever completely convinced that we’re more than “adequate”, since we’re always getting better, the more we do what we do? I doubt it.  Gads, if I ever feel I’m finished getting better, I’ll probably retire because what will there to be to strive for? Money certainly isn’t enough of an incentive! I want to get better every day!

Why?

Because…

I love it when my clients are delighted.

And knowing that I’ve delighted every last one of my Thumbtack clients delights me!
