This morning I put a small plastic dish of fruit bits and peels out to attract butterflies to my porch. I’m hoping to be able to get better close up pictures of them, but today won’t be the day. It isn’t butterfly weather.

The orange tree on the hill above my casita is full of oranges, but none have come down the hill to me since the first one I showed you a week or so ago. I’m hoping to get one soon so I can add the fruit and peel to the butterfly tray. No point in buying oranges when there are a bunch within a stone’s throw of me for free.  I just need to mind meld with one and convince it to roll down! Good luck with that, huh?!

Costa Rica’s World Famous Lizano Sauce/Salsa

Today I walked to the mini mart up the hill from here and bought more food packets for Charli and a small bottle of Costa Rica’s world famous Lizano sauce for myself (oh, and another bottle of sarsaparilla soda pop). Costa Rica’s lizano sauce is cool, mild and delicious. (I’m not a fan of hot/spicy, and neither are most Ticos) You can put Lizano sauce on/in just about anything and be happy.  I sprinkled a little  on rice and refried beans this morning and it was super yummy.  If you can find it in a store where you are, get a bottle.  It’s pricey but worth every nickel — and a little goes a long way.

Hoy caminé hasta el mini mart desde aquí y compré más paquetes de comida para Charli y una pequeña botella de la mundialmente famosa salsa Lizano de Costa Rica para mí (oh, y otra botella de soda de zarzaparrilla). Salsa lizano de Costa Rica es fresco, suave y delicioso. (No soy un fan de caliente/ picante, y tampoco lo son la mayoría Ticos) Se puede poner salsa Lizano en/ en casi cualquier cosa y ser feliz. Me rocié un poco de arroz y frijoles esta mañana y fue súper sabroso. Si usted puede encontrar en una tienda donde usted está, obtener una botella. Es caro pero vale la pena cada centavo — y un poco va un largo camino.

I’m looking forward to attending the feria in Grecia tomorrow — mostly because of the wild iguanas that I’m told are abundant there in the bushes surrounding the place. But also because afterward I’ll be having lunch with most of my Costa Rica family. We always have a whee of a time.
