I Confess to Experiencing Intense Schadenfreude Over TFG’s Federal Indictment Yesterday

August 2, 2023

Schadenfreude: pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune.

I don’t know many words in German. I had to look this one up to know how to spell it correctly.

But I happily confess I’m experiencing intense Schadenfreude after hearing that The Former Guy  (TFG) has  finally been indicted in the most serious of the alleged crimes he has ever committed: attempting in numerous ways to overturn a duly-won election in which he lost his position as POTUS.

Anyone who followed the January 6th proceedings knows the long trail of  tawdry activities TFG engaged in.The details came not by DEMS but from people in his own administration and in other GOP-held positions in several states.  The evidence was stark and it was damning.  Hence his second impeachment over the issues uncovered by the committee.

But since then, not only has all of that been verified, even more evidence (and witnesses) have been added.

The guy just didn’t know when to quit

Usually when someone finds themself stuck in a hole, the first thing to do is to stop digging. But TFG kept on talking, tripling down on the lies, denying that the charges against him were true even  while admitting in rallies that he did, indeed, do some of those things!

His life and career are littered with the bodies and lives of people who sought to do legitimate business with him. All of them found themselves on the short end of the stick. He has had literally hundreds of cases (as of this date) go against him, with many cases still outstanding. It’s easy to see (if you’re objective) who the perpetrator of the deceptions and malfeasance is — and has been — for-freaking-ever: TFG himself and/or his minions.

It’s been nauseating to hear and to watch, and to see friends and family members blithely continuing to support him simply because he’s the GOP standard bearer. I guess their mantra is, “My party, right or wrong!!! Screw the Constitution and the country! I want my party to win by any means necessary.” (Great patriots  all, in their own fevered minds. This is no longer MY mother’s Republican party, and I’m glad she is no longer alive to witness what it has become.)

TFG is a two-year-old tantrum thrower in a badly aging body

TGF is either certifiably insane (if he still believes he won,  but the current indictment states that he knew he lost and even mentioned it on several occasions in private) or such a megalomaniac that he can’t see the forest for the trees. (I think it’s the latter.)

I have been truly afraid for the future of this nation for quite a while now

Since this latest indictment has come down, I feel slightly less afraid. I think more of his cult will drop off and that voters will turn out in huge numbers to vote out of office their reps who have had TFG’s back all of this time.
