How often does web copy stop you in your tracks and rivet you in place?
Not very? Exactly! There just isn’t that much “great copy” out there. And that’s why business owners and entrepreneurs aren’t selling online the way they think they should be. They aren’t getting the words right. “If it ain’t on the page, it ain’t on the stage.”
- Great copy sets you apart from your competitors
- Great copy helps increase sales by improving conversion rates
- Great copy helps increase customer loyalty when you make it personal
- Great copy helps bring customer service to life because you connect (virtually) to create”fond bonds”
- Great copy helps make your name and messages stand out
Before the advent of the Internet, communication was a monologue from big businesses who could afford public outreach to consumers via billboards, direct mail, radio, magazines and TV. The people who could, and did, raise a stink about the quality of products or services were few and far between: Ralph Nader certainly comes to mind. (Remember Unsafe at Any Speed?)
Today consumers can get online and praise or persecute providers who try to foist off shoddy products, services and causes. This changes everything! Today, transparency is king. Anyone looking to buy a product or service has only to get online and ask for reviews before they pull out their wallets.
So the copy you have on your site has to tell the truth. The more transparent you are, the more likely people will be to believe you when you tell them the good points about what you offer.
Great copy isn’t all rah rah rah siss boom bah. It’s a conversation starter. It should be a soft place to fall. It should respect your web guests.
Does yours?
